Where has all the money suddenly appeared from, in his latest interview, we were skint and had to get players out first..

Is Galbraith the defensive midfielder we need?
I've always had him down as a more attacking player, a passer rather than a destroyer?

He isn't a good defender though. Decent in the air and at last gap tackles, usually after being caught out of position, but lets people run in behind far too often and doesn't read the game well Your opinion, but playing as a central defender behind a central midfield out of order is a nightmare for every defender, I can tell you that! It’s not a central midfield issue when teams are pinging long balls over him from deep and wide areas. Look at QPR how many times were we caught out. Without a one off game from Davies they could have had a hatful.

www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0bchrl74:45 "What we're able to free from the existing playing staff is what we'll have to spend on players coming in" "We won't be spending any money on transfer fees" "So it does make me laugh when I see some of the players we've been linked with really, to be honest, because we haven't spoken to any of those players at all, bar probably one who obviously became too expensive for us" Strange comments from MON really. I haven't seen anyone seriously linked, bar Harwood-Bellis (who it seems is signing) and Souttar (who is presumably the one he references who is out of reach financially)

Standard midfield signing then😉 Just reading the Doncaster forum too and they all talk about what a talented lad he is, but a lad who benefits from playing alongside a more defensive midfielder with power and strength.

It's a very nice sounding name.
You never see a Gavin Bent-Pratt or an Adrian Butt-Scragg, do you?

Batth is the type of player Stoke fans like , he heads it , he kicks it long, puts his body on the line, seems a decent lad, but ultimately he’s quite shite at football. No team is getting promoted from this league with Batth playing week in week out, fact.

Of the 2 we've been seriously linked with, we're signing one, and he admits we wanted the other before he got too expensive?

Are you sure it's not Ali McCann? You think he didn’t want McCann? I don't think he's the sort of manager to lie in public no. But asked if there’s anything in the speculation, O’Neill told StokeonTrentLive: “No, there’s nothing in that. “I am constantly linked with players in Scotland because I lived there for a time. “I obviously know Ali. He only started to emerge as I was coming to the end of my reign with Northern Ireland before stepping into this job but he’s a young and talented player who is getting a lot of rave reviews, but at this moment in time it’s not something we’re actively pursuing.”

Batth is the type of player Stoke fans like , he heads it , he kicks it long, puts his body on the line, seems a decent lad, but ultimately he’s quite shite at football. No team is getting promoted from this league with Batth playing week in week out, fact. Apart from his previous club, Wolves.

It's also worrying when people can't see a good defender and don't apreciate this as well. Some years ago we had another central defender not good enough on the ball so we sold him for peanuts to Leicester. A team need good defenders able to defend as well! We by the way brought in a fantastic ball playing central defender called Wimmer for far more than peanuts too! As much as Batth “stifles our play”, he stands up well against most opposition target men in the league and provides a threat from set pieces. If his flaw is easy to find, perhaps Stoke players should be working together to make sure it’s as small a problem as possible? Isn’t a good team supposed to recognize individual weaknesses and seek to mitigate them? Campbell can’t defend, which massively hampers our ability to not concede. He should still be playing because our players should recognize that and deal with it. Well we obviously haven’t done that because we keep giving him the ball. Batth is the sort of defender you want to have the ball as little as possible.

Without a one off game from Davies they could have had a hatful. Look at how we started keeping clean sheets when he was reinstalled. In my opinion he is our best defender, and absolutely the best at defending the box. I agree he needs a ball playing partner in central defence, but I value a good defender when I see one.

If we were doing it, I wouldn’t be offering my opinion, I’d be stating facts.

Apart from his previous club, Wolves. In a season which Danny Batth did not play week in week out He doesn’t play week in week out for us. We’ve got injuries and we sold our best asset. That’s why he’s playing. And he’s a damn site better than Chester or Fox. In fact I’d dread to think where we’d be without Batth at this point. Limited yes, but puts his body on the line and gives absolutely 100%. That’s all we can ask as supporters.
