Belgium has now promised 30 F-16s, bringing the total Ukraine can expect to 85.
They should make a big difference but jets are gonna get shot down so there need to be plans for 2025, 2026 etc.

New satellite pics show that one of russia's smaller artillery arsenals is now completely empty.
The D-30 guns they're talking about are russia's main light artillery gun. They had 3,200 in storage prewar, with the new pics they're seemingly down to about 500 left.
EDIT: author took down the post because the pic came from someone else who wanted to write about it first. Anyway, new satellite pics should be out this summer to see how much stuff russia has left.

Yeah, we want continued cuts to russian imports. I spent looked into it and was convinced that going too quickly was bad, "as quickly as possible" had to be the plan. Seems that's roughly what's happened, with russian gas cut by 72% by 2023, so even money printer Gazprom started losing billions. A reasonable start, but 28% left. One problem is that the EU honours its promises and was stuck with a contract. Sounds likely to expire by 2025, wiping out a third of the remaining imports. Then there's LNG brought in on ships. It seems the EU wants to stop it, but since the EU doesn't trample national sovereignty, individual countries still get some. Greece is a potential problem with its shipping magnates. They fucked everyone over by selling ships to russia's "dark fleet" for oil and are maybe screwing us on gas too. Fucking traitors deserve to be locked up. The good news is that LNG imports are down in 2024 but they don't report the country breakdown until later in the year I think? Hopefully that means russian gas will drop even further.

The Swedish radar/intel planes sound amazing, but I don't know shit about air forces - anyone here know better? The commentators are saying they'll give Ukraine massively improved radar coverage, which could help them deal with russian glide bombers. And they plug into F-16s. Using radar gives you away, so maybe F-16s can "hide" and use this instead of their own radar? And don't Russia have special long-range missiles to try and take these down?

Watching a US donated Abrams accurately whack buildings in Avdiivka, archive footage.
Wonder if they could move and shoot? They lost several Abrams in the same area.

Russia dropped massive fuel bombs on a random village. 😢
This happens constantly. They are fucking terrorists.
They like to bomb civilian areas, wait for rescuers to go in, and then bomb again to try and kill the medics.

I only know this from watching the Grim Reapers YouTube channel who play DCS (which is actually used for basic training in some airforces on aircraft including the F16). But with an AWACS plane you can use their datalink for the missile and basically fire and forget. So the fighter doesn’t have to keep a lock. It can fire the missile, the datalink from the AWACS keeps it on track and the fighter can turn around and run. So it adds to the survivability of the plane. Edit - I can see from further so you can fire your missile from further out. Again meaning you are less likely to encounter a Russian SAM or AAM.

Sweden will contribute with planes, tanks and ammunition, worth 11 billions. Thank you musik and Sweden! A very generous delivery from Sweden, and also a fantastic investment. It'll pay back many times over. Ukraine happily takes the older stuff, Sweden gets to buy new stuff for itself. The UK should send more really.

Apparently when the map has been adjusted. When it comes to our eight political parties from left to right everyone want peace of course, but with an independent Ukraine. It's interesting that our Left Party V want it as badly as the Conservatives, but their german counterpart in the EU is more Russian friendly.

Typical russian attack now.
One old vehicle with so so many soldiers (claimed 18?) holding on.
There get delivered and told to dig in until the next load come. If they survive then they rush the next place. It's meat wave after meat wave.
Notice Ukrainian shells were landing. That's happening more now.

Interesting whining from a russian soldier. Apparently car and house prices have gone up so much in big cities that 20 months of service can get you a used Skoda now. Russian billboards elsewhere promise even bigger salaries, 400k roubles or £3.5k per month. A Russian soldier now gets paid more than a postdoctoral researcher at Oxford University!?

May 3️⃣0️⃣. Special military operation progress, stay tuned for tomorrow:
▪️Russian forces have liberated half of Volchansk, the AFU has moved large reserves into the town, the head of the Russian administration in the Kharkov region, Ganchev, said.
▪️Russian air defences shot down 8 ATACMS missiles over the Sea of Azov and intercepted 8 AFU drones over the Black Sea near Crimea, the Defence Ministry said.
▪️Russia is open to talks on Ukraine, but it is about peace, not a ceasefire, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview.
▪️A dialogue on peace is hard to imagine now that Kiev is ruled by a 'war party' that, at least in words, wants to defeat Russia on the battlefield, Lavrov said.
▪️A change in Biden's stance on approving Kiev's strikes with US weapons deep into Russia is inevitable and getting closer, the NYT newspaper said, citing sources.
▪️Denmark will allow Ukraine to use F-16 jets to attack targets in Russia, Foreign Minister Rasmussen said.
▪️Estonian President Karis has signed a law allowing frozen Russian assets to be used to help Ukraine.
▪️Almost half of the Czech-made shells bought in Africa and Asia for Kiev have turned out to be of poor quality or faulty and cannot be delivered on time without rework, the FT reports.
▪️Kiev is unhappy that the management of foreign military aid at the Ramstein Contact Group could shift from the US to NATO, says the Financial Times.

Or does he just say he wants peace? I don't think we should believe what Putin says. And IMO it's up to the Ukrainians to decide when and how to negotiate. Ukrainians understand that they don't have to surrender and be genocided by Putin, so I think it's pretty fair that they want to continue being a free & democratic country instead of bowing to Putin and giving him what he needs to take over their country.

Lots of russian units are posting pictures with a lot more racial diversity. At least from what I see, in 2022 e.g. most from Buryatya looked Buryat, from Moscow were mainly slavic with a few people who looked central-Asian etc.
Now we are seeing more people who look Latino, African, Han Chinese or South-Asian. Some of them were on video saying they got recruited from overseas. There was a supposed complaint from a russian soldier about how the African mercenaries didn't speak russian, and they raped him and now laugh at hime, but he can't do anything about it. Couldn't confirm if that was a legitimate post though.
If Russia can get big numbers then that's bad. It helps Ukraine and hurts Putin when russians feel the consequences.

Moscow warns West after Ukraine told it can hit Russia with Western weapons boo fucking hoo. There's tons of different stories going around with "unnamed sources close to the administration" etc all saying different shit so I don't know what's going on. Ukraine can use some weapons in some situations. We don't know the exact list. Basic artillery from Kharkiv (Ukraine) into russian artillery in Belgorod (russia) is fine. ATACMS missiles are a no-no. The rules for all the in-between stuff aren't clear, people are confidently reporting different things.

I saw a report on TV here yesterday, at least most of it ... It was depressing actually.
It was about small children 1-5 years old Russia had taken from Ukraine to Russia. In that report the most interesting part was this: they showed some Russian TV news. A woman said Russia had saved small children from Ukraine to Russia, since Ukraine had planned to perform organ transplants and to take organs from them. Logically meaning they would probably suffer or even die from it.

Taking areas and then want peace is bad enough. If they actually do cry for peace any time soon, it'll be because they think they need time to rebuild their army. When the republicans were blockading Ukraine aid, Putin also said there was no point negotiating when Ukraine was low on ammo. Russia wants to conquer Ukraine and genocide its culture then use its people and industry in the next war... I'm convinced that everything they say is just designed to try and help them achieve that.

Think of all those poor Ukrainian parents who had their kids stolen. Or sometimes russians just put a bullet in their head.
