Sunak would be the sensible 'Tory' choice but have a funny feeling it will be Javed.
They're all garbage either way.
I'm hoping Labour see sense and replace Starmer with either Nandy, Cooper or Streeting as an outside chance.

None of his bumchums.
They're all culpable for this shitshow and are only jumping ship to save their own skin.
Sunak, Javid, etc. can all fuck off.

Burnham "on paper" would be the perfect blend of Corbynism and Blairism and a potential unifying candidate, unlike Starmer he has a personality as well as experience of implementing policy in his role as Mayor. He's also northern which helps shake off the tag of Labour being "London centric" He would certainly be my pragmatic choice but would of course need to find his way back in as an MP first............

I think they’ll nominate a “fall man” to be honest. It’s very unlikely that whoever they appoint wins an election and it’s probably in their best interests not to win the election too.
Where we are now is an accumulation of incompetence and self serving politics which has seen rising equality while the rich grow and the poor get poorer.
Things will get much worse before they get better. Whoever takes over the mantle next is going to have a challenge to get a second term!

If the hard liners in the party push for a hard line candidate that would spell massive problems for the Tories even with Starmer in opposition. If they go for a Penny Mordaunt or Thomas Tugendhat type candidate with very little stench of Johnson lingering over them expect them to rise up the polls almost immediately.........

I just think things will get alot worse before they get better. From covid to Ukraine to incompetence to greed to brexit, the uks economy is in a dire state right now. And with these ongoing trade disputes and threats to break international law, I’m not too positive about things improving soon. So the idea of another party taking the brunt and being held accountable for an accumulation of errors over a decade reign may seem quite appealing for some Tory’s. As they’d probably be confident they’d win the next election after that and could hold power for a longer term.

God, heaven forbid that we should have someone dull running the country in a sensible, boring way that aims to work for as many people as possible. Fuck that. Let's have more charismatic, entertaining, batshit crazy fuck-ups who'll drag the country even further into the shit...

Jeremy Hunt
Out of government has kept his own counsel realative quiet.
Has a bit of statesmanlike about him.
He’s the only guy really in contention and unblighted by association with Boris

He’s the only guy really in contention and unblighted by association with Boris But tory members are all a bit crazy, like Fabricant. Hunt doesn’t stand a chance if he makes it to the final two. It’s extraordinary that I would really like Hunt to be next PM out of the awful choices on offer. It will be someone like Sunak or Javid.

It'll end up being Priti Patel for a couple of years. I'd rather keep the bluffer than suffer her as PM. A Q.C I was talking to a few weeks back that has to deal with her in a work capacity confidently described her without any hesitation or prompting as "an absolute psychopath"

Hunt is the obvious 'safe pair of hands' candidate but he won't win the members ballet as Brexiteers won't vote for him.
As for Labour, Starmer is a bit of a non entity so the Conservatives have every chance of successfully regrouping before the next general election if they pick the right candidate for PM.

Inspires nobody is the problem - he also seems to be occupying some sort of middle nothing ground currently. Needs to start spelling out his vision for the country more effectively if Labour are to have any chance in 2 years time.
