From The Guardian Something has crashed on set. It looks as though her podium collapsed. The broadcast has stopped. Truss looked quite shocked.
Yeah Truss did look really shocked and moved forward towards whatever had happend.

Johnson has spent all year telling us that we've got the fastest growth in the G7.
Truss 5 minutes ago: "We've got the lowest growth in the G7". Your problem, Paul, is that you worry too much about facts. Just accept what they say on any given day and don't worry too much about it.

TalkTV saying that there has been a medical incident in the studio and that Truss and Sunak are answering questions from the studio audience but it can't currently be broadcast.

Was one of the contestants doing shit? Might have bribed her to take a fall.
Or perhaps the urbanite presenter wasn't used to the ripe smell of today's fox hunt wafting from the audience.

I see Truss wants to bring in laws to prevent workers from striking.
So good we got brexit over the line and can control our own laws now.
No protesting - Cheers Boris and Torys No striking - Cheers Liz and Torys
At least we've got out freedoms back guys eh. Keep masked > Stay Home > Don't protest > Don't strike > Be a good boy and make the rich richer

Many a true word spoken in jest... With his "screeching U-turn" on VAT cuts, after saying in February that to do so would "disproportionately benefit wealthier households", has Sunak belatedly realised who he's supposed to be winning over?

Soon they'll realise that "getting control of our country and our laws" is actually code for "Getting out of the EU so workers rights are no longer protected and we can now fuck you harder than before" The UK - along with the 27 member states of the EU - is a member of the ILO. By outlawing strikes, Truss and/or Sunak would be breaking international law. Jezza explains it here.

And yet, as a British citizen I'm not allowed to vote. I don't particularly mind as long as its fucking fair. Nothing unfair about it. If you want to vote for the leader of a political party, join the party. Nothing stopping you doing that. Mind you, it’s pretty fucking weird that you don’t have to have any connection to Britain for that to happen. And wrong, imo.

Well, it is unfair that a non-British person can have the same say over who runs a British party as an actual British person. However, I was more comparing the fact that a non-British person effectively has the same voting rights as me since I'm not allowed to vote in a GE. Which... I don't particularly care about as I don't think I should have a say, being that I'm not a UK resident or paying UK taxes....and based on that I don't think non-British people should have any say in any British politics whatsoever.

I may have misunderstood what you were saying, but if you're British you can vote in general elections. Doesn't matter where you live. Representation without taxation effectively, if you're non-UK domiciled. On the flip side of that, you can't vote in GEs if you're not British but have been resident here and paid tax here for decades. Which is wrong, imo. No taxation without representation. It's quite messy.

As I was when there was the Brexit vote.

If you've paid tax for that length of time, you should get a say.

It's hard to establish how many members belong to Conservatives Abroad, though they have over 100 branches worldwide. and its interesting to see that they've got a big photo of Liz Truss looking very stately as a front cover on their website and next it a photo of a ballot box saying 'Have you Registered to Vote yet'? No sign of Sunak there. www.conservativesabroad.org/about-usIt's incredible to think that people with absolutely no connection with the UK will be voting for our next PM. Also didn't realise that it is a Conservative manifesto commitment to scrap the 15 year rule for for ex-pats to be able to vote in UK General Elections

Anybody know if either of these have commented on the big story today which is the scandalous profiteering of energy companies at our expense?
Surely that is the THE question of the day.
