Yeah I’ve seen this. Gay people have to look at where they can and can’t go on holiday in case it’s a place it’s illegal. Qatar being such a country. I’m sorry but basic human rights like being allowed to love someone of the same sex seems like a basic to me. No one should have to check if they can go somewhere because of their sexuality. Just in case you have any Gay Friends who are planning holidays Obviously not while the War is going on but Ukraine would not be recommended by the Equaldex placing Ukraine placing it 97th out of 198 Countries as Gay Friendly with only 14% Public support This is obviously not as bad as Qatar 184th or the Western Liberated Iraq 177th but not as Gay friendly as Hungary 88th or the Vatican City 71st www.equaldex.com/equality-indexCan we have Iceland and the Isle of Man as co-hosts of the next World Cup?

Does that mean that German or any other country for that matter shouldn’t partake in any pre season trips, mid season breaks etc or even holidays to UAE/Dubai

Well of course if they made an application they would be excellent hosts My point was directed towards Bayern who tends to have selective memory when making his pronouncements Who can forget the horrific scenes of Homophobic Violence in Ukraine and Poland before and during the 2012 Euros These "Hosts" didn't limit their thuggery to Homophobia but doubled down with Racism and of course antisemitism wasn't far away either It prompted most Black England Players to not have their families go to the Tournament out of fear Theo Walcott's Brother posed this question " Why hold a competition of this magnitude in a place that cannot police itself [well enough] for foreigners of any creed to feel safe?” It's a bloody good question Has anybody been beaten up in Qatar yet? I abhor the practices of the Qatar Regime but I wonder why they have been singled out for special admonishment A Country most people would have found it hard to point out on a Map before the World Cup started... unless you had a Geography Degree of course www.google.com/amp/s/www.macleans.ca/news/world/ukraine/www.thetimes.co.uk/article/euro-2012-and-the-anti-gay-hosts-c80lmw3rks8

All I know is my personal enjoyment of football has been totally ruined to the point I am not that interested in the sport anymore and to be honest LGBTQ+ is of not really a cause that I am likely to be involved in.
Whereas before if someone wore a one love armband or a rainbow I would respect it as their choice, its become much more than that now, it seems to be used to get up the nose of people with different personal values.

Of everything else it’s no different to Russia china etc etc getting top global events. What Iran did was brilliant but none of the FAs have considered any sort of boycott. That would have sent a better message. It’s all little too late. We know it was a corrupt bid from the start. We knew it would get changed to winter. In 2010 these nations should have declared an immediate boycott then

That's why I've been so against them taking the knee, they're (I'm talking about the England players specifically) just hypocrites, taking millions in sponsorship from companies with highly questionable ethics themselves and then folding quicker than a garden chair when they're threatened with something that could directly effect them personally.

Qatar's World Cup leadership has offered FIFA the assurances that displays promoting LGBTQ rights will not be removed. "When it comes to the rainbow flags in the stadiums, FIFA have their own guidelines, they have their rules and regulations," 2022 World Cup chief executive Nasser Al-Khater said. "Whatever they may be, we will respect them."

Absolutely spot on mate 👏 Edit: Albert stated on the Iran thread "keep politics out of sport" and I agree but these very wealthy young men CHOOSE to get involved as does the FA and at the very point they should tell FIFA to get fucked (they even said they would defy FIFA and wear the armband) they cave in and prove to us all they are full of horseshit. So fuck off the knee, the rainbow laces etc they are all fake.

If the fans or media wish to wear these slogans their choice, if some fan wants to wave a rainbow flag at the game their choice. Somewhere along the way a line has been crossed to the point it is causing more harm than good and it is destructive. I would be interested if Peter Tatchell would consider cancelling the tournament half way through it for their cause?

Asking Roy Keane who you could clearly see was giving the only answer he could. Expect this rubbish from the BBC but ITV on it as well now. Totally with FIFA on this

This unhealthy, disturbing position that the Western media has taken against Qatar is unashamedly neocolonial with an unquestionably racist undertone.
The World Cup should never have been held in Qatar on football grounds only. No one batted an eyelid in 2014 and defended the obliteration of Brazilian tribal communities, natural habitats, deforestation and child slave labour on a horrifying scale.
Shut up, shove your hypocrisy up your arse, get off your high horse and enjoy the football.

Discuss away it isn’t happening Dunno, Germany are suing FIFA, Blinken critical of FIFA, British and Dutch FA's unhappy, sponsors pulling out, this could be the first signs of cracks in the FIFA 'family', which many have argued for a long time would become inevitable.

It deserves to fall and has done for many years, is now the tipping point? Who knows? I guess we'll find out soon enough ...
