That’s put Harry Kane in quite a position also Paul FIFA seem to be escalating the issues these last few days I really hope he sticks to his guns. It'd be very interesting to see what his colleagues do if he's booked as soon as he walks onto the pitch. The FA have been very vocal about their intention to stand by him. Bale too. If logos are banned for all nations Paul (which I'm assuming they are), why should an exception be made for the all virtuous England just because we're England?

The UK yes. They already declared war by killing British citizens on our soil. All deplomatic ties should have ceased and we should have been on a war footing with them. As they’ve shown in the last 9 months it’s the only language they understand and they invariably back down. Who gives a fuck about the Skripals he was caught up in the espionage game! Why do we need to be on a war footing with Russia, it makes no sense, how would we fight this war and where? I think they are pissed off with Liz Truss's text message after the Nordstream was blown up which seems to suggest they think we were involved. Dawn Sturgess a British citizen was murdered in Britain by an operation by the Russian military. It should have been the final straw.

Bloody sick of this world cup already. Watched the 10 minutes of BBC at 3pm. Then turned off and watched only fools and horses. What a load of absolute bollocks all this media coverage is. Can't be doing with it. Bring back the world cup Yep. We've literally got the likes of Gary Neville presenting at a World Cup talking about how he doesn't like Boris and Trump while telling the host country how they should live. All while earning a fortune and convincing a small minority of Brits he's a good guy doing the right thing. It'd be funny if it wasn't so utterly cringe worthy and tragic. And we then wonder why such large swathes of the East hold the West with contempt. Who can blame them?

If my memory is correct some useless Russian field operatives left a bottle of perfume in a bin which was novichok? Now I am no expert in espionage war games but I find that a little hard fetched to believe. Any evidence would have been destroyed and untraceable. The whole story is farcical to be honest.

Southgate and the English FA are culpable for this, forcing our Captain and using him as a pawn in a game. I will be surprised if he gets more than 2 goals in this tournament when we need 6 or more from our lead striker.

I don’t know what anyone expected with the position of the Quataris, were they suddenly going to change? I do not agree with their view on same sex relationships, treatment of women or banning of ale, but it’s their country and their rules which were known from the get go. Blame the corrupt assholes who took the World Cup there in the first place as this is now a case of when in Rome do what the Romans do and the bitching about it now when it was known it would go like this is just seems pointless.
If everyone feels as strongly as they do now, one presumes they felt this way when it was awarded which is why the only right thing to do morally was not to have gone. Oh, but money is involved and hence the morale high ground is now compromised, so their moans can’t have the same importance. I do not respect or agree with Quatar’s view on these points, but I respect their right to determine what goes on in their own country.

I’m saying they need to highlight how cruel and demeaning their laws are. So that means you can’t care about people who could be beheaded just for loving a person of the same sex? We were all aware of those problems out there decades ago. It's hypocrisy of it all, if I felt so strongly about something I certainly would not accept any form of payment to be a part of it. Their hypocrisy is sickening, do as I say not as I do. Lecture others on how to behave while living in a middle class comfortable cocoon. Like these fuckers lecturing us on climate change while commuting on private jets!

What are you proposing, that we somehow change the laws of their religion that they adhere to out there? As Alex says, I am not LGBTQ+ so will never understand the issues she confronts, but then again she will never understand the troubles I face either. She is a BBC darling, a well paid Metrpolitian London Lovee. Im trying to not go broke heating my home this winter and reducing my food bills. I’m saying they need to highlight how cruel and demeaning their laws are. So that means you can’t care about people who could be beheaded just for loving a person of the same sex? Why aren’t they reporting on match of the day on the dire situation faced by families up and down the country to heat their houses and put food on the table

Will FIFA allow England to take the knee?
FIFA are going to have to instruct their referee to allow or not allow it.

Will FIFA allow England to take the knee? FIFA are going to have to instruct their referee to allow or not allow it. What would the ref do, book the entire team? So that anybody who was booked during the game was immediately sent off? The match would turn into a farce.

I wonder what would happen if every country took a stand and said they’d go home.
Worst decision ever to have the World Cup in Qatar.
Play it next year somewhere else. It just won’t work here too much conflict.

But equally, Qatar knew what FIFA's rules on inclusivity were when they made their bid, maybe they shouldn't have in the first place. "Discriminatory offences, under The FA's ruling, can relate to ethnic origin, colour, race, religion or belief, gender, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, ability and disability."

They can’t according to your post above 😂😂 Why aren’t they? Any chance you’d provide a proper answer rather than some puerile response It’s not puerile. You literally said they can’t have an opinion on the matter because they are middle class then wonder what their opinion is on something else. You can’t have it both way. Can you? It’s either bollocks that you think they can’t talk about this stuff because they live in a middle class cocoon or they can have opinions but seeing as they are at the World Cup they are choosing to highlight the ones front and centre of the moment. You want it both ways. There’s nothing puerile about highlighting your two post contradict each other massively.

Indeed, the exhilarating WC from my childhood memories have turned into a boring political wankaton Horrible spectacle isn't it. Are we going to end up with this sterile, cringe worthy, hypocritical performance of virtue signalling by "Western" nations during all future tournaments? I have been vehemently against the taking of the knee and over the last two years have posted on here numerous times, accusing the players of doing nothing more than virtue signalling. However this seems different to me, if they are prepared to protest with the threat of direct personal sanction hanging over them, then I don't think they can be accused of virtue signalling. I'd have a lot more respect (I don't currently have any) for their taking of the knee, if they don't bottle it now.
