We won on Saturday when really we should have lost, and we lost tonight when we should have been 2 or 3 up at half time. That's football, people need to get a grip. We win 3 on the bounce for the first time in years and tonight people want to sack the manager, when it was clearly the players who failed to perform tonight, missing chance after chance. When MON gets some decent money to spend he will get us promoted. There is always a silver lining; we are now going to find out how good or bad we are Allen. What's the evidence fir giving him money brown surridgr doughty all the loans say recruitment remains a fundamental issue The evidence is despite having to take second best players because of lack of money, we have 1. Achieved more than Rowett who spent a fortune. 2. Done better than Jones who brought in a host of useless players and had no idea how to organize the team. 3. We are sitting in a promotion play off place, despite all the injuries to players. 4. We have just won 3 games on the trot after many years failing to do so under the previous 4 managers. I am confident MON knows what to do, for example he knows he wants a DMF but no one was available to him at an affordable price.

Did this lot even bother to prepare for this match? Or when will MON realise that he is fielding players without any cojones or desire to win matches. Simply, Bristol worked hard for their win, and we did not. Its now up to the scouts to unearth players that can do the job, when the window opens.

Our midfield needs to revolve around Sawyers. But we need two other defenders to cover his totally hopeless pansy way of defending . Right now the other teams are stacking the middle with hard tacklers against us. And they have been successful too. They are even copying the ol'long ball throw against us. Bloody beautiful. If anything, Bristol demonstrated that if you wanna control the game, you have to tackle hard for it in midfield. Sawyers, Vranjic and Allen were struggling today against Bristol's five-man centre circle players ...

We play the ball far to slow and give the opposition time to get back onto a defensive shape. Maybe we are missing Powell more than I thought.

Was a painful one to take that was, thank god my short trip back to Devon wasn’t as bad. Fair play to the ones going back. Shame one or two felt the need to damage some seats, kind of like the way people react on here after a loss I suppose….
So many wrong choices and rather unlucky, they seemed to waste time from the moment they scored. Shocking to think we used to play like that and enjoy it… dreadful to watch.
God knows who’s gonna play Saturday, if Thompson ain’t back we may have to play Tymon in midfield. Time to give one of the young lads a chance, that midfield is so unbalanced and far too attacking. Been so unlucky with injuries again, it’s one thing go have one or two of your best players out but the amount of injuries we are picking up is frightening really.
Ah well….

A terribly disappointing result but not worthy of some of the disparaging comments on this board. I'm of the same opinion as Smithy who was commentating last night and described it as a cup match between a minnow and a 'giant'. They had one chance and scored. We had seven or eight and couldn't score. We've seen countless games like this before and it happens. But we didn't lose from a lack of effort. We were bloody unlucky. Having said that, we lack that clinical striker that makes hard working sides into successful ones, plus our injury hoodoo is catching up on us again. We just have to battle on and hope for the best. It could be worse. We have 2 more points than 3rd placed WBA in the last 6 games. A win at the weekend ( hopefully) will lift our spirits again.
OS.

Groundhog Day! Yet again we field a three man non-combative lightweight midfield which just gets turned over once the opposition deside to have a go. Here's a novel idea how about playing Campbell in our initial onslaught get a goal and when he tires replace him.

They scored from a long throw and created zero from open play, how is that getting turned over in midfield? We dominated possession from start to finish.....

No nor me. Which makes the way we limply capitulated even harder to stomach. Just as a side note, this thread was hilarious last night. Immediately after the game there was completely over the top mass hysterical abdabs then at 10 o'clock it just stopped. Almost as if someones mum had said 'Get off to bed you it's school in the morning'.

It’s a good point, Davies didn’t have a save to make. Trouble is after the initial 30 odd minutes we reverted back to poor possession football. I don’t know if they’re scared of conceding a second possibly by being too open and start playing more rigidly. I guess that one is on the manager.

Re point 4, are you really saying the MON has not had a major role in getting Powell, Campbell, Tymon and Souttar all to fire while earlier managers patently couldn't (or chose not to)?

No I’m saying he’s a good coach with the right raw material but recruitment is another thing entirely , and many of his buys aren’t good enough raw material to be be regulars in a promotion chasing squad brown , Surridge and doughty as examples who cost £5m between them
