Wouldn't go near Gayle at 32, no recent game time, on the decline, and on what's probably still crazy long-term money if he signed his new deal there on similar terms

Why do people always harp on about Dwight Gayle?
The bloke is 32 and has had two good goalscoring seasons his entire career, the last one was 3 years ago. He's barely played since 2019.
Let's be honest if Castle bid £20m+ Tyrese is off, unless they hold off until the summer and we get promoted.
But getting 32 year old Dwight Gayle as part of the deal will be absolutely no consolation for me, Campbell can become twice the player Gayle ever was.

They're loaded and desperate. No deal, try harder. Absolutely , Howe wanted him at Bournemouth so the link fits but they’ve a real challenge in getting proven players to go given their position without overpaying especially;ly given the media around their wealth as they will be forced to do for lingard so for me it’s get on the train if your bringing a number that starts with a 3 Amanda if not bugger off back to Ripon and we’ll see where we all ate in June

Think we should try to push it up but if we are honest there's not much we can do about it if he wants a go at the prem. Thing is he's only just getting back to fitness and form, it's going to be too early for prem games imo.

They've got cash on the hip and are desperate. I'd be looking to push that towards 30M easily.

£20 million, maybe if they started at £30 we would be interested, can't see Tyrese being interested, why would he go to a potentially relegated club?. Can think of thousands of reasons.

The richest club in world football bargain hunting the championship for an unproven young lad just coming back from a serious injury.
Mmm….bullshit.

From 90 football league clubs £20m would be about right.
From the richest club in the world desperately trying to stay up, £30m plus add-ons please

I think everyone will be happy if we can sell him for 20 million or even more, on the proviso, that Newcastle accept Ince and Clucas as well. No reason to panic. We still have Fletcher, Sturridge, Brown, Sima and maybe Doughty, with Powell to return. This will give MON a bigger war chest and an opportunity to bring in three or four new players , that he really wants. Tyrese is not gonna stick around if the offer is genuine. He'd be crazy not to take it, And we will still love him for his contribution to Stoke City.

It could be the last deal TS sanctions before his impending job swap. So with that, £3 million and we will pay half his improved salary for the remainder of Ty’s Castle career.

That was my reaction However as Benji said Howe was sniffing when at Bournemouth If true the player will be keen even if they go down for the quadruple pay rise Whatever money we get we need to have a plan on who to spend it on

I wouldn’t sell for 20m in January. If we have any ambition of promotion this year then we need to keep Campbell.
If 30m was offered though, then it gets to a point where it may be too good to turn down & wisely reinvest it.

If you look at it objectively, why would they want him for that kind of money?
They have Callum Wilson - probably got 3 years ahead of him still and is, at present, a much better player. His injury record isn't great, but he's played more games than Tyrese in the last 3 years.
If they need reinforcements in the immediate to help them stay up, then you wouldn't go for a 1-in-3 (3.5 to be exact) Championship striker surely? In the summer you could only really see them going for superstars or Real Madrid cast offs.
I like Campbell but I certainly don't think he's outgrown us - would be a major risk for a prem team at the minute and I just can't see this one happening.

Would Tyrese be more likely to be in the Premier League next season with Newcastle or Stoke? I'd say it was somewhere near 50/50.
