i would think we should get £2 million off millwall for him That would be double Millwalls record fee and they couldn't get anywhere near his wages

Wonder if there's any chance at all of getting a fee for him? Or will the fact he's entering his final year of a ridiculous contract, and the complete lack of money in the Championship, mean it's just a case of him choosing the best loan, and us trying to get the biggest wage contribution? londonnewsonline.co.uk/attacking-department-set-to-be-the-key-area-for-millwalls-transfer-focus-this-summer/“Any striker who gets double figures will have options,” said Rowett, who was Stoke boss when they splashed £12million to sign him from Wolves in January 2019. “He moves well, he’s athletic and the type a lot of people are looking for. People know all about Benik Afobe, he’s been doing it for a long time. “This year was a very good year for him and probably exactly what he needed. All we can do is hope that there are less options than he is probably going to get and maybe he wants to try and make it work coming back for another year. “That is out of our reach. He is Stoke’s player. I signed him, so I know he is on a very good contract and is there for a while longer. It’s not an easy one to work through. “All we can do is wait and see what their thoughts are, what Benik’s thoughts are and wait in the wings if there is anything to be done. I don’t think we’ll rush into that. “We still need to look for other options because it is probably less likely we’ll be able to get him back, as much as we’d like to.”

Crazy to think he’s still on our books.
Could easily have the argument that he should be staying and playing for us but….bridges burnt?

Rowett ain't half sticking the boot in there is he.
"I right fucked Stoke over signing Benik, I knew I had shit loads of money so why not overpay for few players and give them mint contracts.
As its turned out I really did fuck Stoke over and now they can't even sell the dudds so I get Benik for a free"
Rowett adds "Bojan was actually a decent lad but it was funny to wind them pricks up"

"I signed him, so I know he is on a very good contract and is there for a while longer. It’s not an easy one to work through". What a cunt Rowett, we've been in a fucking financial mess for years because of your wank transfer dealings and Afobe isn't the only one. Gouranga.

Wimmer, Imbula & Berahino v Afobe, Ince, Woods, McClean & Clucas. I'd give it to Hughes by a majority decision. At least we got some use out of McClean, Clucas and Ince.

I keep reading on here that we want football decisions made by football people. Are we saying we actually don’t want that and that non-football people should’ve interfered with the manager’s plans after all?

If we loan him out again we get maybe half his wage back. Maybe the better option is to take another look at him for six months? Low risk.

We've set a precedent that will be hard to break. We've shown a willingness a few times that if an interested club waits long enough (towards the closing of the transfer window) we'll let Afobe go for a limited or no fee loan and we'll pay most or all of his wages. Which club would want to spend even a fairly small sum to sign him when they can have him for nothing for a whole year?
Then they can have him on contract for nothing the season after but will have to convince him to take a major wage cut. Or he could retire with a truckload of cash in the bank.
