I never think Stokes speaks great after a bad result. Just seemed to ramble on about taking the positives without addressing any of the questions put to him by Atherton and Co.

Why were the crowds so sparce at matches? They’re just not interested in test cricket

For me we have to give Stone, Carse and Atkinson a run in the team as we head towards the Ashes/India series, has the potential to be a really good seam attack. The question then is which spinner to pick, they’re not brave enough to just go with the leg spinner so has to be Leach. I think Smith can bat at 3 so I’d go with that, with Foakes as wicketkeeper: Crawley Duckett Smith Root Brook Stokes Foakes (wk) Carse Atkinson Stone Leach Cox Ahmed Potts Bashir Good post. I’m really not a fan of Leach though. Not test quality for me

For me it’s a waste of a space.

Just what we need on the slow, low wickets of New Zealand, another T20 specialist part time spinner in the squad……

I don't know why we need 4 spinners for a tour of New Zealand. A second wicket keeper or an extra seamer would have been a better option.

Shocking from England but my God West Indies pitches are bad these days. Played on better uncovered wickets at Meakins……

Shambles. Still let’s see if our bowlers can dig us out of a hole

The Jamie Overton selection is just bizarre. Why are we picking a bowler that can’t bowl and using him as a batsman?

Pretty abysmal from England last night. As soon as I saw that batting lineup I knew we were in trouble. This series was arranged as a warm up for the Champions Trophy but probably only about 4 or 5 of last nights team will be involved.

Impeccable innings that from Livingstone. Genuinely didn't think he had it in him. Knew he had to be there at the end and made sure he was. Brilliant.
Captaincy suits him.

Well done Liam Livingston.
Brutal batting to get us over the line. Game on for the 3rd match….

I can't believe that performance from New Zealand. They have absolutely humiliated India. A few weeks ago they were beaten comfortably by Sri Lanka.

Same with Pakistan after getting thrashed by Bangladesh before turning us over. I like the concept of the World Test Championship but it’s farcical when you get scenarios like this year where South Africa will end up contesting the final without touring Australia and India, if needs to be a fixed calendar over a two year period so everyone plays each other in a 3 or 5 match series. Obviously with the power of the India, England and Australia cricket boards that won’t happen as there’s no desire to play the likes pf Bangladesh other than once in a blue moon…..

To win 3-0 in India is immense.
Has anybody whitewashed them at home at all before?
Edit: SA beat them 2-0 in a two match series in 2000, no-one's done them 3-0 at home. Very impressive.
For a nation of less than 5 million people, they have a very strong claim to be the best sporting nation in the world, the Kiwis. They certainly put our efforts with much more resources into stark perspective.

Why do we insist on just 5 players that are predominantly batsmen for the ODIs? The balance just doesn’t seem to be there.
And that top 5 are all rounders. Two keepers and three spinners. It’s mental.

It’s mental. The side is an experimental one. A few of these won’t even be in the squad when the tournament comes around. I like Bethell, he has a good temperament. Will Jacks needs binning.

Would recommend "Capturing cricket" with Steve Waugh on Amazon. It really does capture the love for the game beautifully.

We’ve been doing it for ages though. 5 batters then 2/3 all rounders plus Rashid plus Wood/Jofra. Jacks will be replaced by Buttler another all keeper. Jamie Smith will come in, another keeper. Which is fine but are they the best batsmen? Salt, Buttler and Smith probably are. Is Curran good enough to bat at 7? Probably. Just think there’s a much better balance to be had.

Incredible effort from New Zealand who now have a chance of reaching the World Test Final…they will be confident especially now they have a relatively easy task up next. They will be licking their lips I reckon.
