Man City or Chelsea if he carries on like this ! Hopefully when he turns 16 we have the foresight to get him into the team a couple of times to increase the club compensation if that were to occur. I’m not saying we would get the kind of fee that Birmingham got for Bellingham, but we should get substantially more if he’s played a few times for us (assuming that he continues the progress he seems to be making).

It’s this sort of situation that makes me despair of football if I’m being serious. Nobody wants to address the ‘factory farming’ of outstanding youth talent by a few clubs.

Isn’t it the same for any business though? By and large top talent is recruited by the best companies. The best that Stoke can do is a) get to the Premier League and b) invest by building a team around them (making them feel wanted). Short of that, they are bound to want to try and make it at the highest level possible.

Brum have already put the younger Bellingham on their bench in the cup already. And Tezgel seems on a par if not better than him as things stand. So much expectation for two fifteen year olds mind. But that’s the way it’s going.

I also wonder if players like Wright-Phillips would have got their chance if we hadn’t been playing 3-5-2.

Hopefully he’ll play u23 games soon and that’ll be a really good yardstick for where he is.

Is he as good as that, or is a lot of it down to the fact that he is 6 foot 1 at 15?

The club are already talking about him playing for the 23s though so I think it makes sense at some point this season that he makes the step up. At this stage (year 11) Sankoh made the step up so I would imagine this will be the same with Tezgel. Would have been interesting if Sankoh had stayed if he would have been at Leyton Orient on loan 😂 He would have been a second year scholar and was the next option for a Bundesliga side. Would that have happened here? Who knows.

Would that have happened here? Who knows. Yeah - would have thought some time this season for the u23s, certainly. I think Sankoh would have ended up getting on the pitch for us quite a bit last season if he'd stayed. I don't think you can really criticise them for the way they handled him. But you can't blame him for going to Stuttgart either, just one of those things. He had more attractive options www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/stoke-city-transfer-mo-sankoh-4406991Stoke were preparing a contract that would have put him level with some of the better paid players in pre-salary cap League One and Michael O'Neill and his trusted lieutenant Andy Cousins made personal interventions to encourage him to stay. Just hope Tezgel doesn't get anything offered to him that turns his head. You'd think the passage to the first-team would be easier for him than at a Premier League club, and if he is from a Stoke-supporting family, that'd help too. But you can't rule out his head being turned if a big club did happen to knock on his door. It's still very unusual for players under 18 to get regular games in the Championship though, isn't it? www.transfermarkt.co.uk/championship/juengsteaelteste/wettbewerb/GB2/plus//galerie/0?saisonIdVon=2021&saisonIdBis=2021&land_id=&pos=&spielerposition_id=Hardly any this season - but there's always the odd, special one like Elliott at Liverpool who's a freak who handled it at Blackburn no problem And there's always a tricky, developmental period until they're potentially ready for the first team.

Oh god yeah we did all we could. But that’s the real difference, he’s played there and become a regular on the bench already. It’s a massive draw.

One of my brothers was playing for Staffordshire u16’s when he was 12, didn’t do him any harm whatsoever in fact the older lads took really good care of him and he relished at that level so much so that he was pretty quickly snapped up by Alan O’Court from memory and playing with Beeston, Maskery, Shaw but from what I remember him telling me Ronnie Jepson was the far better player but O’Court was quite pally with certain players families.

He's a decent enough lad, goes out with my niece. This thread is the first I've ever heard of him. Is he Turkish? English born with a Turkish father. Possibly importantly in respect of his Stoke future, he and his family are all keen Stokies. So it gives us a decent chance of hanging onto him for the next year until we can, hopefully, tie him to a pro contract in September 2022 when he turns 17. On the face of it he looks like potentially the most important product of our Academy for years.
