Don’t think he would have the confidence to go to another club right now. He’s very well liked amongst the Stoke squad and it helps his game.

I always feel that endears a player to the club as well. But it sounds like he loves it here and more importantly, that he really respects MON.

Didn’t realise Tymon was out of contract at the end of the season. So that’s two of our best players, Powell and Tymon, could fuck off somewhere else for nothing. Just hope Teflon is working his bollocks off, to get the pair of them tied down to long term contracts.

I'd guess the chances of Tymon not re-signing are pretty close to zero though. Probably 99.9% sure he'll extend for 2-3 years pretty soon
He's settled and comfortable for the first time in his Stoke career.
And we've got Powell until 2023 at least - and he's a real Cheshire homebird. So it'd take something special to turn his head.
The interesting one in the summer could be Allen.

So would we stretch to 2 more years, which he'll obviously be looking for? - and decisions could be slightly complicated if we look like going up

You have to consider what league we'll be in too here. Either way I'd sign Tymon up but if we got promoted I'd let Smith go, for instance.

This is going to be interesting.
A sensible contract offer would be a 2+1. So 2 years and we have the option for a third.
Not sure he’d be happy with that.
Not convinced he could get a better move at the minute.
And not sure we should offer what he would probably like now either.
Is it worth waiting to see how this all goes and risk him going on a free? I still think so.
Good game of poker in store here.

I’d demote Smith for sure, but I think he’d be a good back up. He doesn’t look like he’s losing any fitness any time soon, so how well he can perform at 32 may just depend on if he stays injury free.

Assuming we plan to keep the same formation I'd want both Tymon and Smith here next season regardless of what league we are in, if we were to switch to a flat back 4 then we'd need alternatives but in the current system they are vital to the way we play and it's not so easy to find wing backs.

Agreed. We want them two putting crosses in at wing back, not part of a back four.

After Covid and FFP biting I think a lot of players will have to get used to lower wages and shorter contracts.
Clubs will finally have a bit of bargaining power, and for once it can make sense to let contracts drag closer to the end.
Transfer Fees are dropping outside of the Prem as well. Would be interested to see the total amounts of Transfer Fees paid this summer in the Championship. I didnt see ANYYTHING over 10M this season.

I’ll hold my hand’s up! I never thought he make it when he first came to Stoke ,but he’s playing brilliantly at the moment and one of the first names on the team sheet for me now.

Can I just say, even in his rough days, I’ve always been a fan of Tymon and could see glimpses of potential.
Please don’t none of you piss on my bonfire either regarding this 😁

Please don’t none of you piss on my bonfire either regarding this 😁 I'm with you and have repeatedly defended him in past seasons. He has matured to a "full professional" from being a "boy" when he arrived from Hull. I hate if when young promising player get lots of flack on here. We all have to learn. Under 23s are usually going to get better, whereas over 30s always get worse, apart from GKs. I've said before on here that Crouchy said as he moved up each level in football, it took him a season to learn and adapt to grow to that level. There are very few Wayne Rooneys.

www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/stoke-city-contract-powell-tymon-6044513Tymon is out of contract next summer and there is no option in his current terms. There were reports in the Sun last week that Stoke might face a fight to keep him but StokeonTrentLive understands there is calm on both sides as he heads towards his final few months. There were rogue suggestions in the national press that Stoke might face a fight to keep him beyond next summer but he is more than happy at the bet365 – and there is belief from coaches there is still more to come.

More chance of me replacing him at LWB than there is him leaving. He seems to love it here, we love him and he’s playing under a manager who seems to have complete trust in him Works for all parties
