Beppe Signori from the same era! Who was that left winger they kept going on about who had a serious car crash and was never the same? Gianluigi Lentini

Beppe Signori from the same era! Who was that left winger they kept going on about who had a serious car crash and was never the same? Lentini. Went for world record money, crashed and was never the same again. To be fair he won some trophies, played 515 matches and retired at 43 so it wasn't all bad!

Beppe Signori from the same era! Loved Signori - he used to take penalties with no run up. It drove keepers mad!

I've just watched it. What a bag of shit. Hard to believe a player as good as Baggio could be the subject of something so wank. Baggio himself should find tbe people who made it and projectile vomit over their cars. And yet the title makes it sound like it would be brilliant. Used to have to spend the off season building the muscles around his knee to be able to play properly. Loved that era of football in Italy. Football Italia was a staple of Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon viewing.

Baggio lit up every game he played; well, every game but one. That was in Meadowlands, U.S.A. in 1994, when even he experienced what many had done before him; the lonely darkness of Paul McGrath's arse pocket!

Who needs a run up with finishing of that quality?

Imagine the current Italy team with a young Baggio? We would have been beat inside the 90 mins.
A truly unique natural talent of the rarest proportions!

In the next Italy game v Norway Pagluica was sent off early on. Saachi sacrifice subbed Roberto Baggio. Despite being the undoubted star of the competition he got off to a rubbish start.

Didn't they end up with Batigol as a result though? Within a year I think? Not a too shabby replacement! As much as any opposition player he's the one I regret never seeing play. Drogba was about the closest modern equivalent in my opinion, always thought he was outstanding against Stoke in attack and defence.

Didn't they end up with Batigol as a result though? Within a year I think? Not a too shabby replacement! Yeah, they'd agreed to sign Latorre from Boca, who was one of the first 'new Maradonas' and when Batistuta, who was largely unheralded in Argentina to that point, had a good Copa America they took a punt on him too. Latorre played two games and sunk without trace, Batistuta had his own statue there by the end of the decade. Absolutely gutted to miss that game at the Vic where him and Effenberg played for the Viola.

Batistuta was the second most dangerous striker on display that evening, after Martin Carruthers.

Batistuta is one of the purest, cleanest strikers of a ball i've ever seen, every shot had the velocity of a bullet....

A truly unique natural talent of the rarest proportions! or England with a young (English) Baggio or any half decent side truly world class players elevate decent sides into very very good ones the most obvious example is Argentina in 1986 not a bad side but they don't get beyond the quarters without Diego

Bruce Rioch said when he joined Arsenal he was given the choice of Bergkamp or Baggio. Would loved to have seen Baggio play here also
