I presume you have posted this off a smart phone or laptop, have you flown recently in a plane or sailed in a ship with turbines, do you use power that comes from nuclear, all use cobalt and hardly green are they ? But you've used a photo from about 15 years ago to probably try and you use it against electric cars which don't produce emissions, (since Amnesty highlighted the issue, the companies tightened up its extraction there) People could show pictures of war, children dying in poverty in Yemen, burning oilfields in Iraq where children die of Leukaemia from the illegal close proximity burn off, early deaths and chronic asthma from pollution and say - surely we aren't that thick as to not want to move away from what we are and have been doing with transport for the last 100 years ?

Yeah but the difference is Northy, I'm not the one professing to be some kind of all loving, all caring green enthusiast. The hypocrisy of such people is astounding. The majority of stuff we use on this planet for our daily lives to function comes from a pretty dark place. Probably start by looking at the clothes your wearing.

True, but those professing to be all loving, all caring green enthusiasts would probably be quite happy to forego their smart phones, polluting cars and other aspects of their lifestyles which are contributing to the probable collapse of civilisation in the next few decades. In the meantime, they have to use them while they wait for their leaders to actually lead and make the changes that are necessary to bring about a sustainable lifestyle, and if charges of hypocrisy abound while they continue to highlight leaders' inaction so far, I guess that's the price they have to pay. Alternatively, you could just carry on flying off wherever you fancy, whenever you fancy, consuming more and more and contributing actively to the likely endpoint of catastrophic climate change. But at least you won't have been accused of being a hypocrite when it does come about! Doesn't seem like such a big win in comparison to actually trying to force leaders to do something about climate change, but whatever matters most, I guess!

Fortunately for me, I think I may just get away with not having to experience the outcome of runaway climate change. Unfortunately for you young uns, I think you probably will. By then, of course, you'll be telling people how much you warned them about what was coming, not how much you campaigned against it...

Been looking at where our clothing comes from for years thanks, never shopped at cheap shit places like Matalan or Primark, pay more for stuff from places that are sustainable, circular etc and last a lot longer, Mrs likes Charity shops, she picked up a virtually new dress for £30 ftom the Salky Army in Morpeth yesterday

I would never buy from China again. The more locally produced, the better. Maybe it's selfish, but ... I've also started to visit second hand shops nearby. Atm looking for a chair and some table cloths. I don't use a car. Recycle absolutely everything in different garbage cans 1 km from here. I wouldn't go by plane, simply like train more. But I won't buy the argument "don't use any paper at all", as you hear here sometimes. I saw an informative tv program where a professor explained how a forest should be as healthy as possible - and it didn't mean leave all trees alone forever. It's like having a haircut. Not too much, not too little, and you'll be just fine ...

That's interesting. Do you know where they're manufactured? Amsterdam The company is based in Amsterdam , the phones are made in China (or every model since the Fairphone 2 has been). That doesn't make them unethical but it does mean their factory inspections need to be 'bob on'

When you see what they've built under PFI (under labour and the Tories), and the lifespans allowed for you'd cry. I can't be arsed to get myself worked up over a lot of this stuff. Democracy is the illusion of free will and politicians and their parties are simply the conduits for taking money out of your pocket and handing it over to their mates in the industrial, financial and corporate worlds. They're rapacious in their pursuit of profit and it'll take a significant disaster to prevent that, and even if that occurs it's 50/50 that the 'elite' won't just demand more of the same. I know enough about the rush to retrofit to be able to say that the work we were undertaking and funding ourselves has doubled in price in little over a year. The energy rating you're achieving for the property through the work doesn't double but with the advent of a tiny portion of government funding through SHDF and the rules and regs that come with accessing it has led the London consultants and construction conglomerates to get involved, cartel up and rinse the public purse.

It's that time of year again folks. Flop 27 - The annual festival/knees up for wealthy World leaders and accompanying aristocrats staying at 5 star air conditioned hotels, escorted by countless diesel engines and private jets.
Is there a bigger scam of an event out there? It makes the Qatar World Cup look somewhat legitimate.
Boris has just done a speech 😆 I wonder what time Greta is up to tell the global population how they should live their life?
Meanwhile roadblock dorks are at it again today. Violence absolutely has a place when it comes to dealing with these privileged nerds.

We’re over 17,000 posts in and if nothing else, you have to applaud his commitment to holding trenchant views on topics he’s clearly never bothered to learn much about. I didn't meet Greta in September at the Book Fair. I think the reason was uncertainty about the possibility of going out for lunch and then getting back on the same ticket. I'd refuse to buy a new one. It was the trip as well to think about. The answer to me from the administration came too late on that Sunday. Then I read she hadn't felt so good one of the days either, think it was on the Saturday? But she was back on Sunday. I could have caught something, maybe I was blessed. It might be clips on You Tube if Rossi (and others) wants to follow them intensely?
