Ben a surprise starter tonight for Chile in their final crunch qualifier with Uruguay (Chile need a bit of a miracle with other results)
Blackburn fans will be hopping, this is his first football since the first days of February 🤣

No World Cup for Ben, shame really, would have been the icing on an already pretty remarkable cake.
Still, he’s very much seen as the figurehead of the new cohort of young Chilean players coming through to replace the “golden generation” of Bravo, Sanchez, Vidal etc.

Just seen some highlights, didn't look fit really. Two great goals by Uruguay, Saurez overhead kick and Valverde a great hit from 20 yards. |

He’s definitely signed for Villarreal. 4 year contract and already got his house sorted out there. It’ll all be announced by month end. Lucky lad. Great place to live and ply your trade. He’s also the face of addidas for Chili all going well. Bet he’s now glad Stoke released him 🙄 Though he still remains a big Stoke fan. |

If only we could sign this guy. I work at Rovers and spoke with him multiple times about Stoke. He only speaks highly of the club and city and he is a fantastic player and runs his bollocks into the ground. Off to Villarreal last I heard about it, but it's gone quiet over there so not sure what the situation is now.

He’s 100% signed for Villarreal to be announced soon. He’s already got his house in place. Maybe one day. But not yet. Probably toward the end of his career knowing us ! |

Having watched him for the youth sides he didn't look anything out of the ordinary Fair play to him he's developed fantastically but absolutely no one was calling for him to be moved up to the first team |

He was not very good when we had him previously! I've watched him the last 2 seasons every game and I can assure you that he is definitely a Premier League calibre player. He has an eye for goal, he's fast, holds the ball up well and his work ethic is incredible. He absolutely carried that Rovers team. |

Youth players develop at different rates. There are a lot of guys who were in the shadows at youth level who then go on to have great careers. And vice versa. A lot of it is down to physical development. If someone is an early bloomer physically then they are going to stand out in youth teams but might not develop much further, and then their physicality eventually stops being such a standout attribute. In fact if you look at England youth teams from the past they often don’t contain many guys who became first teamers. And these were the best players at their age group in the entire country when they were 16/17.
