I actually feel sorry for Ipswich fans. They are trying to enjoy the first time back in the big time for 20+ years and every time they pick up the paper their manager is linked away with a different job... Beeb reckon he's going to reject a new contract offer. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c3ggpj1j4y7o

He was crap for us - but there's probably enough on his CV to make that a pretty decent appointment for a big League 1 team. Brum won't have too many choices. To be honest I was never impressed by his CV everyone quotes his promotions. 2 of them 6/8 years ago and all of them through the lottery of the playoffs. Gettng Sunderland up via the playoffs is hardly stellar neither is Hamilton Accies. a couple of steady seasons at Peston and an awful tenure at SCFC. His CV reflects the man.. dull and ordinary.

It’s a wonderful opportunity for hm to join the true greats Wilf Mcguiness , Frank o Farrell and Tommy Dochertry acclerating a spiral of decline hopefully this time terminal. and sending them to the oblivion and never ending purgatory where they really belong and long may it continue.

I'll be watching this one with interest. Obviously a lot has been made about his success in France so far so it'll be interesting to see if he can replicate it here.

It all fizzled out rather quickly though, he had that impressive unbeaten run to begin with but his record since then is pretty average / poor.

That'll cause a stir on the Sunderland board; many of them are convinced that he's heading up there.

Was speaking to a Sunderland fan this morning, he's given up on Still taking the job Beale sacked in February but no one lined up No problem with clubs sacking managers in May, it's the best time to do it but should always have new man in by June so Sunderland have a week or so imo

McKenna to Man Utd Maresca to Chelsea Kompany to Bayern The world is going mad I think it’s odd but who would you expect to go there now? Poch maybe to Man Yoo but then after that what sort of experienced manager is available? Simeone? Inzaghi? Tuchel? (But he seems a bit shit to me) There’s not much out there is there?

Tommy Docherty?....he transformed Man Utd and in his last season they finished 3rd in the top flight and won the FA Cup! But he did actually take them down He did but he had inherited a very poor, ageing team and was allowed to completely rebuild them in the old Division 2, which he did with some wonderful young players (Coppell, Hill, B.Greenhoff, Daly, Sammy McIlroy etc all 20 and younger) plus Buchan, and Lou of course who Docherty shifted into midfield. Brought them straight back up, then finished 3rd and got to the FA Cup Final with a bunch of kids, winning it the next year with our Jimmy before being sacked for shagging the coaches wife! He used the same young team in the old Division 1 as he used in Division 2. The only player he signed in his 2 years in Division 1 was Jimmy Greenhoff! I think he was a top manager.
