Always disappoints when we’re not taking part in the merry go round. Well, yes but it all depends who gets on of course.

Northern Ireland fans unhappy after a 0-0 draw with Cyprus.
A poor start for Stoke and the stars are aligning for a glorious MON return to Windsor Park

I'm not sure that side of the argument has been properly thought through...

I'm not sure that side of the argument has been properly thought through... So we should never do anything ever again. It was a bad argument when TP needed sacking, it was a bad argument when MH needed sacking and it’s a bad argument now.

It's a terrible argument....at a normal club. I don’t think we can just keep using the owners foibles as a reason for doing nothing and accepting more of the same. Personally I’d rather risk them making a terrible appointment and getting relegated than accept this bland shit ad infinitum.

Seems like a less ambitious appointment than big Dunc. Has he any sort of managerial/coaching pedigree?

Seems like a less ambitious appointment than big Dunc. Has he any sort of managerial/coaching pedigree? Early coaching career Edit Tomasson retired on 6 June 2011, and announced that he would be assistant coach at the Dutch club Excelsior.[23] Tomasson became the club's head coach at the beginning of the 2013–14 season, where he signed a contract for two seasons.[24] Roda fired their head coach Ruud Brood on 15 December,[25] and announced on 26 December 2013 that Tomasson had been signed as the new head coach.[26][27] He signed for three and a half years, starting on 3 January 2014.[26] In half of the season, which resulted in relegation for Roda JC Kerkrade, was sacked on 26 May 2014, being employed with the club only five months.[28] On 19 June 2015, Tomasson was appointed as the new assistant manager of Vitesse Arnhem.[29] On 7 March 2016, Tomasson was appointed as an assistant coach of Denmark.[30] Malmö FF Edit On 5 January 2020, Tomasson was appointed as the new manager of Swedish Allsvenskan side Malmö FF.[31] He led the team to the 2020 Allsvenskan title in his first season with the club, winning Malmö FF its 21st Swedish Championship.[32][31] In his second season for Malmö FF he took the club to the group stage of Champions league after succeeding in 4 qualification rounds- including beating Rangers F.C. in the third round and Ludogorets in the fourth. In December 2021, Tomasson and Malmō FF won their second consecutive Allsvenskan league title.[citation needed]

At last we are seeing the end, thank goodness, of the managerial merry go round where the same old suspects get jobs. Clubs* are putting in the work, researching managers and making what it appears to be informed decisions.
*not Stoke City. We know blokes in the pub.

Sounds a bit like Potter before he came to the UK albeit Malmo are a much higher profile club than where Potter came from. It’s certainly a ballsy appointment Blackburn are certainly not to England what Malmo are to Sweden. If I was a Blackburn fan I be quite excited but not confident, I think I’d have felt safer with big Dunc but I don’t like safe appointments.

It just looks like a bit of a roll of the dice to me. He's won the Swedish League and not really done much else as far as I can see?
