Then we really see who the best drivers are. I like verstappen but fuck me its boring seeing him tear off to a 4 second lead by the 2nd lap 🥱

It's been a fucking bore for at least 20 years. One of my mates has always defended it and last season when i said "let me guess red bull 1-2 - yawn" he resorted to telling me about this fantastically exciting maneuvere someone had pulled off which turned out to be a pit stop overtake. I said to him are you serious ?... is that the best you can come up with to justify sitting watching 3 hours of "sport" ?

I keep saying it, but the Indycar model is the way to make a racing series exciting. There isn’t the same innovation and tech as in F1, but all drivers have the same chassis and no power steering, so it’s much more about driving skill. F1 is just a wankfest for engineering geeks and fan boys.

I can see Max to Merc, Lando to Red Bull along with Sainz, unless Ferrari reverse the decision to let him go. I just cant see why Ferrari are taking Hamilton..At his age he will struggle.

I used to be a big F1 fan but it's just so sterile, predictable and downright boring, and has been for years. Rule change after rule change comes in and the "racing" just gets worse every year. It's just not worth watching anymore. I've much preferred Touring Car, Endurance and Rallying to F1 for quite a few years now. F1 isn't for me anymore.
I know it's not as popular as F1 but I've always been a big MotoGP and World Superbike (and British Superbike) fan and the racing in both categories is absolutely top class, exciting, and competitive right to the last lap in many races year after year. This year has been absolutely brilliant so far.

I'm a big F1 fan and always will be. Never miss a race. Even though Red Bull are miles ahead at the moment, I find the battle between Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes and Aston Martin interesting. It will be intriguing to see where Newey ends up, probably either Mercedes or Ferrari. It shouldn't affect Red Bull in the short term but 2026 when the new rules come in could be a problem for them. Wouldn't be surprised if Max tries to get a move at that point.

I'm going Silverstone this year. I can't even be bothered about the race. Did it once, never again. What a total anticlimax. You’re just sat watching one part of a track. The only way to know what’s going on is watching one of the big screens, which depending on where you’re sat isn’t that big. And the traffic jam getting out ruined the day!

A battle or competition is one where there is some kind of tussle for a WIN. The title is all that matters. In F1, Red Bull is the only car that has a chance of winning. It’s all about the cars and not the man. Can anyone honestly say that Sergio Perez is the second best driver on the grid??

And despite Perez being a distinctly average driver, he still came second in last year's Championship. That's because of the car. And this isn't just a Red Bull issue. It was a problem going back through the Mercedes dominance, right back to the Ferrari dominance under Schumacher. I don't watch F1 anymore, but I used to enjoy the sport and would like to again. I'm just amazed F1 commands such a global audience despite the foregone conclusions. It seems to be the one sport where not having the capability to fight for a win can still be tolerated.

To be fair I've done it 8 years on the bounce from 2008 and loved it, but each time there was you never know what's going to happen apart from a couple of Red Bull Vettel years and even then it wasn't certain. This year unless the weather plays a massive part it will be a borefest. I'm camping at Woodlands for the full weekend and that's what I'm looking forward to most.

I'm just amazed F1 commands such a global audience despite the foregone conclusions. It seems to be the one sport where not having the capability to fight for a win can still be tolerated. I don't know if you watched much of the Australian Grand Prix weekend, I wouldn't blame you if you didn't as most of the practice sessions were through the night. Red Bull were struggling to set their car up to the circuit all weekend and Ferrari were right up with them on pace long before Max's mechanical trouble. Perez in a car without mechanical problems finished 5th. You are correct that most seasons there is one car that is stronger than the rest although other teams usually start to close the gap as the season develops. Unfortunately because Red Bull were so dominant last year it meant they could start developing this year's car earlier than other teams which has given them a head start. Red Bull's current dominance is unusual. The only other time it has been matched was in 1988 when McLaren dominated. The difference being that that year Mclaren had Senna and Prost who were much more closely matched than Verstappen and Perez so the drivers championship was still close. F1 is far from being the only sport where not being able to challenge for the win is tolerated. How many clubs have a realistic chance of winning the Premier League each season? Probably no more than 3, the other 17 are just there to make up the numbers. I watched Brighton vs Man City earlier in the week, within 10 minutes it was obvious who was going to win and Brighton are supposedly one of the better teams.

Still some interesting articles out and about though. I didn't realise Sid Watkins and Senna were such good friends: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/articles/c1ejpl7k2lqoGetting Sid Watkins into F1 seems the only decent thing Bernie Eccleston did, at a time when deaths were part of the attraction. "At Brands Hatch for the British Grand Prix, he [Watkins] was faced with a small, ill-equipped medical centre staffed by two ambulanceman drinking beer. "But at least there was a medical centre. At the next race in Germany, at Hockenheim, the emergency facility was a converted single-decker bus, with its staff camping in tents nearby."
