I'm one of those Americans that was sucked in from watching the Netflix series during my COVID sentencing. That season a few years ago with Verstappen and Hamilton battling it out was excellent. The next season started well with Ferrari and kept me viewing. Now, admittedly I still try to watch, but it's become the Bundesliga. F1 needs to somehow figuring out how to impart some parity because the speed and skill alone aren't compelling enough to keep me checking in every week or two. I know it's not possible for obvious reasons (humor me here), but if they ever figured out how to rotate drivers amongst the teams during a season...well, that might be insanely compelling.

I used to be a huge F1 fan but haven't watched for several years since the Masi last lap fiasco. So as it was the first "race" of the year I thought I'd give it a try, much against my better judgement. IMO overall it was boring as hell, I certainly won't be bothering again. In comparison the first round of the World Superbike Championship was in Australia last weekend. It was brilliant, really close, competitive racing right to the last lap, different riders and bike manufacturers winning the races. The only thing I didn't like was the introduction of a compulsory mid-race pit-stop (reduced fuel tank size, rear tyre change etc) which seems totally unnecessary when it's worked fine for years without one. World Superbikes has, and always will, piss all over F1.

I see that Jos Verstappen has called for Horner to go. As Jos is an even bigger twat than Horner, I'm now bordering on almost having sympathy for Horner.

Good job we're all different isn't it. I used to work in Motorsport (2 & 4 wheels) for the best part of 20 years and I've always loved WSB and Moto G.P., and was a huge F1 fan (going back as far as Villeneuve, Lauda, Hunt, Prost, Arnoux etc) as well but these past few years everything about F1 just bores me stiff. I also still really enjoy watching rallying and it really is F1 I just can't stand anymore.

I used to love watching rallying as a kid when the likes of McRae, Burns, Sainz Snr, Makinen etc were in it and I think it was televised on BBC or C4? Seemed to be something that was easy to access TV wise but not so much now, couldn't tell you where it's broadcast now. F1 is a right mess which saddens me greatly. Not going Silverstone this season for the first time in a while, just couldn't justify the rising costs and how I feel at the minute. Been watching more F2 and IndyCar in the last 12-18 months.

Same, I just cannot get into bikes. I’ve been into cars since I could walk, but bikes have never done it for me whatsoever.

WRC is generally on Eurosport these days, was watching a couple of weeks back as it happens. Even that thought isn’t as thrilling as it once was. Personally love Touring Cars and the fact it’s keeping Steve Ryder in a job!

All kicking off today! FIA President under investigation for trying to interfere over the result of the 2023 Saudi Arabia race - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/68465516Rumours flying about that Max could be off to Mercedes next season. Ford could be pulling out of their deal with RB over the Horner drama, Newey potentially leaving, below video is good at explaining what the hell is going on. I'd absolutely love it if RB implode 😂 I think the Max rumours are bollocks to be honest, think it's all engineered to try and force Horner out. However, it's come from a highly reputable source (AMuS) and Matt and Tom in the above video make some decent points too.

World Superbikes has, and always will, piss all over F1. Totally agree. Followed very closely by Moto G.P. If Indycar went global and took half of its calendar into Europe, mixing up the circuits with its U.S. based ovals, and managed to tempt big names like Hamilton and Alonso into its series, F1 would have some competition. Indy is proper racing. Just a shame it’s all U.S. based with irritating Yank commentators.

Bernie is as shrewd as they get, and when he carved things up with the equally sharp, Max Mosely, they ran a very tight ship. Sulayem, is a man of privilege and entitlement, with less intelligence (but more than any women, he once said) than he thinks he has.

it could be a vintage season, red bull imploding, mercedes and ferrari are much stronger, tsunoda and riccardio already at each others throats, the head of the FIA being investigated for "race fixing"
an insane drivers market before next season with the hamilton move opening up a huge seat
drive to survive will be amazing, sadly the on track racing will be boring
Monaco needs a change or scrapping altogether, maybe smaller one off cars harking back to the golden age of motorsport for a one off race (forming part of the overall calendar) that will allow overtaking and proper racing would do it

Never was that great before in all fairness but at least there was a chance to overtake.

As much as I like the idea, the smaller cars idea is a complete non-starter sadly due to the cost cap. The contract is up in 2025 and it'd be interesting to see what Liberty Media do. I wouldn't be surprised either way, Monaco is one that I only watch Qualifying for because seeing the drivers throw the car around on a hot lap round Monaco is incredible. I don't usually bother with the race past the first couple of laps.

More Machiavellian work by smarter than women, Ben Sulayem. Cunning PlanTLDR: Sulayem has beef with Liberty Media/F1, and the Vegas race was the first race that Liberty was the actual promotor, (all other races have individual promoters) so if the race were cancelled, it would have cost Liberty $500M+ The guy is toast.

Well done Adrian Newey, leaving Red Bull due to the Horner situation: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/articles/cmm3v9ny78eoBets on wherever he goes being the next championship winning car. If I was to bet now I'd go for Alonso and Aston Martin but maybe the lure of Ferrari will be too strong.
