Think it's got to be a defender for the extra place, for this reason.
Probably White?

Can you get Grealish AND Foden in, or do you need one of the players either side of Kane to have genuine pace and a willingness to get in behind?

Thing is Foden and Grealish HAVE got pace, in the brain. They take the ball and move forward. Sterling and Rashford are quick but how often do they use it? I’d prefer Grealish and Foden every single time

Think you do need some direct, out and out pace somewhere in the forward line for balance though.

Watkins would have been perfect. Think it will go down as a mistake not to take him. I'd have taken him over dcl I'd have taken both Kane and DCL, along with Watkins as a wild card.
As controversial as this may be, I would have left Sterling or Rashford out.

I'd go 4-3-3. Defence is going to let us down whatever, so might as well go for it.
Rashford.........Kane.............Grealish
...........Foden........Mount...............
..................Rice........................
Shaw......White....Stones.......Walker
................Pickford....................

Yes once we're playing 4231 as one of 'the three' is the paceman. Rashford surely ahead of Sterling or Sancho for that spot. But seems we have to play three at the back for the first couple of games (343) until we get Harry Maguire back. So maybe not yet.

Shaw and walker cannot defend. Walker is like a man with no brain going forward. Even though England play with a defensive midfielder, they still concede far to many chances against lesser teams. This could cost them dear in the euros. If we are going to go with a attacking formation, we need to play proper defenders.

Rashford has been gash and deserves no more than the subs bench in his current form.

Pickford
Walker Stones struggling here don't like Mings
Mount Rice Bellingham Chilwell
Grealish Kane Foden
I think its madness to take Henderson and Maguire who clearly arent fit, past experience with Rooney Beckham Walcott, a waste of squad places, Ward Prowse is a decent stand in, I haven't seen enough of Ben White to make a judgement but he seems highly regarded.

Think it's the only decision he could've made having seen Mings in the warm-ups

Pickford James Stones Mings Chillwell Rice Bellingham Mount Foden Kane Grealish I'd go with that apart from Mings, he looks dodgy as fuck to me and not good enough for international football. I don't rate Luke Shaw or Walker so I'd go with your choice of full backs.

Think you do need some direct, out and out pace somewhere in the forward line for balance though. No Grealish then? Grealish has made a strong case but I think it's a case of two of three from him, Mount and Foden. Maybe against Scotland, where it's more likely to be a case of trying to unpick a lock against a massed defence, you could play all three. Against Croatia we'll likely be playing on the break a fair bit so I think we'd need Sancho in there somewhere. Will be horses for courses this tournament.

Think it's the only decision he could've made having seen Mings in the warm-ups It's the right call isn't it. I do like JWP and think he's very unlucky but White is versatile and has a composure that most of the other CB options in the squad lack.

Yeah, definitely - although you could argue the major error was going with Mings in the first place and picking an injured Maguire. Realistically, when would you feel confident throwing Maguire straight in now?
