Sat in my back garden yesterday with a brew in the sunshine and had 2 buzzards circling quite low over head, great against the blue skies. Hopefully looking for any unawares cats that they could carry off for tea 🤣 At the risk of looking stupid (I'm not sure if you are taking the piss) but could a buzzard lift a cat?? I doubt they would, but they do eat pigeons from time to time. A return of the Eagles and Lynx will certainly help reduce the cat numbers, bring it on

Seem to have alot of wrens visiting my garden.. Nice to see a few starlings knocking about again seemed to die off a few years ago seem to be making a come back Wrens, robins and Dunnocks seem to have done well the last couple of years, seen a lot more than normal when out running or walking recently. I remeber a few years ago my lad shouting me and asking what the bird was in the garden, it was a starling, you then realise you hadn't seen one for a long time, we have thousands of them near us now and I can walk to a big lake with reed beds and watch the murmarations early evening.

I have interesting news. Someone at work showed me a picture a friend had taken of a White Stork in field somewhere Northwich way and it was aparantly verified by local wildlife authorities.
Considering the project to breed White Storks in uk is being done in south east im very surprised one is up this far.

Ahh, the humble Stork - the avian world's foremost proponent of new born child delivery and low-grade catering margarine.

Anyone any tips on catching Owls on Camera? Find the voles first, fields that are cut for hay every year are ideal places to start. Look for the small holes in the grass that the voles make. Fields that regularly go under the plough or are heavily grazed by cattle tend to struggle to hold good populations of voles. Having said that some farms do leave good verges at the sides of fields and hedgerows. We've noticed when it's really windy they tend to hunt in the sheltered spots.

I’ve had a kestrel on my garden fence twice now in six months. Couldn’t believe it the first time. Haven’t a clue why it comes, I live in a residential area with lots of houses around but also some very tall trees. It’s an awesome site as I can see it about 30 feet away in doors. Normally only ever see them hovering or squashed on the motorway.

I do look around the farmers fields nothing as yet but will keep a look out. Trying to get them and a decent set of shots of a bird of Prey. Had these in my Sights today but i cudnt see them land to find them. Almost like they were taking the mick because kept going where i was walking.

It's a funny time at the moment, females maybe spending time on the nest preparing for breeding with the males feeding her and also not straying too far from the nest. Hopefully around mid may they should have hungry owlets to feed and can be seen two or three hours before and after dark. By then you should see which fields are being kept for hay. Out early walking the dog this morning and spotted a pair of Red Kites together, stunning birds, thought it was funny that a load of rabbits were bolting into the hedgerows by me.

No it was a Blackbird, white marks on its wings. Black coloured birds such as crows and blackbirds often have white feathers, a phenomenon called leucism
