I am fairly confident in saying that had he been in goal today we may not have conceded those goals. He dominates his area, is strong in the air and reads the game well. He quite possibly would have spared Batth's blushes by getting out to the player first leaving Batth to sweep up. Just watched it again...Bursik wouldn't have been coming for this one: Baath was much closer and the goalscorer was free in the box, so would still have had a tap in (no one had tracked him back)

As good as he may be in the future, you can't mark 2 players and block the pass between them on your own.

Nothing Davies could do about either goal today.

My mate used to be Chairman of Posh supporters club...asked if they can sign him permanently when the loan is done...seems he made a big impression "Slotted in comfortably, commanded his defence, used the ball well..."

That would be crazy. He got the potential to be one of the best keepers in the country in 2-3 years.

Don’t forget that Stoke do the reverse of Carlsberg transfers so we’d probably think £1m is a profit.

Over the period of a season, that could very much weight in your favour, yes. But do you think it would make more of a difference over a 5/6 game period than being involved in a promotion chase would be? It’s not like he’s playing at Mickleover. It’s the league below and in my understanding, everyone pushes to their max during a promotion challenge, particularly at the end. Surely that’s better than being in goal for an aimless game versus Preston or Coventry? Are their standard of strikers that much more superior than say Charlton’s or Doncaster’s?

It's true that our games are perfectly aimless but from an ego point of view that leads to more goalmouth action for a hungry keeper out to prove himself to an idiotic manager who thinks the team can do better without him... Quite frankly I fear that MON will be perfectly happy to sell off our best (future) keeper to Posh or another club for a nominal or no fee. It wouldn't be a first if he did. Posh can then sell him for millions to Burnley or some such club.

I’d imagine that he would be under just as much pressure there as here, with respect to similar amounts of shots. Swindon were able to get 10 off in the last game, though only two on target. Birmingham had 9 and 3. Of course, to do a fair comparison would be to take the average across all games for both teams, but I don’t think anyone would bother doing that. I can’t see why we would sell him. Has there been any suggestion that we would? I think that point is aimed at what happened with Verlinden, who made his third appearance as a 78th minute substitute a couple of games ago. I think O’Neill deserves a lot of shit at present for sticking with a system and team that isn’t working, but the goalkeeper situation is right in my opinion. If anything, it should be applauded. Bursik will get valuable experience now and Davies, who hasn’t done much wrong all season, gets to finish a campaign as No1, something he will need if he stands any chance of being the Welsh No1 this summer. In my opinion, that’s good man management, which definitely hasn’t always been the case it seems.

It's very honourable of MON to give Davies a chance of being Wales no.1 but he has zero chance of getting it. He'll be happy if he gets to be a non playing no.3, although as we've seen with our own goalies that can change very quickly.

Take a bow today son because you performed very well. Being a big Chelsea fan Joe said he had a few mates behind that goal he saved the pen in who were giving him some stick😄We have another top keeper on our hands with Joe for sure

I'm so happy for him he has been given the chance as no1 and it don't seem to be bothering him at all. For a young lad he has a bright future. Was a bit fortunate that Davies and gunn got injured last season at the same time otherwise I don't think he would of had his chance in the 1st team yet. I hope we can enjoy his rise before he leaves for a big fee

Am I right in thinking that's the first penalty saved (other than in shootouts) since Sorrensson at Newcastle? 2013?

Am I right in thinking that's the first penalty saved (other than in shootouts) since Sorrensson at Newcastle? 2013? It's the 1st since Asmir at Chelsea who then scored from the rebound. Something like 43 consecutive penalties that have gone into our net, 1 courtesy of a rebound. Great save it was as well.

Football should become a proper sport again. I thought that yesterday was his best performance for us. Made some great saves. This does show he needs to mature though. Really he shouldn’t be admitting to anything publicly. Whatever happened to “it happened so fast, I didn’t feel like I touched him. On replay, it was fair.”
