I've just had a look at his stats on Wikipedia and in 75 senior appearances he's yet to score. That's just not good enough.

I can imagine the conversations in the set up. “ Right we need to look at our number one and watch some games. It will mean continual scouting at matches to see which keeper will be the first choice to keep them on their toes. Who wants to go to St Etienne and watch the lad Green and who wants to go to Stoke and watch the lad Bursik?” 😂😂

Just because he starts in the French ligue one, I don't think that should mean he's guaranteed to start.
The top half of the championship is just as good, if not better, than the bottom half of the Farmers league.

The top half of the championship is just as good, if not better, than the bottom half of the Farmers league. St Etienne for the most part of the past 10 years (bar past 2 seasons) have always finished around 4-6 mark and are usually involved in Europe in some shape or form. Thar rhetoric of “the lower of that league is same as this” - in this instance, is kinda irrelevant. He’s still number 1 for a good French top 6 club and is trusted to go up against the likes of Mbappes/Neymars/Messis/Verattis/Icardis etc etc where as Joe is week in week out up against the likes of Wilson/Mitrovic/Brewster/Brooks/Diangana

What channel is it on, if any? Sky Sports Premier League Interesting to watch Cole Palmer as well - he seems to be in that small group with Delap that Man City have massive hopes for It seems you get an u-21 call-up these days on the back of one sub appearance for Man City

Might sound odd for did Etienne Green have his name changed by deed poll or something? It’s like being called Stoke Bursik

It’s like being called Stoke Bursik His Mum named him after St Etienne, where she was from - and his dad's an Englishman named Green. It is very weird though! Not a hint of an accent in his English speaking voice either, despite living in France since he was a toddler.

I always find it amazing how Steve picked up the accent after 3 weeks, and Joey Barton in France👀

The Championship really isn't great quality at all. better than some lesser leagues in Europe maybe but doesn't come close to the French league

I think Bursik has been earmarked as a future England goalie since he was 15/16 tbh and that will have played a part in his selection here as well as doing well with us. He’s been in the system a long time and the coaches will know him and I think that will go far. Obviously the pedigree of the other dude is excellent so if Joe makes a mistake or two then he can’t complain. Good place for the u21s to be.

St Etienne a lovely place. Baize used in casinos is green due to the casinos of St Etienne and it being the official colour of the place.

Good save when called upon and the parry out to a wide area but a forward waiting to pounce and great defensive block from a defender. Only other action clearing punch at a corner. 2-0 England at H/T.

A decent game for Bursik 7/10 made a couple of good saves and fielded a couple of crosses and encouraged to play out from the back. 2-0 England F/T.

A good point Dave, I hadn't thought of that. Surely he's a better bet than one or two of those forwards, a few of whom I've never heard of ?
