For every one of those, there are probably fifty families on the bones of their arse. And even if it were true, and 90% of parents were milking the system, or taking the piss, their fucking kids are going to school in a morning without any breakfast. Which is a disgrace, whoever is to blame. The kids come first, they can't choose their parents. If a child is going to school without any breakfast I’d say there’s a 99% chance that the child’s parent is to blame, not the government. Putting my sarcasm about booze and fags to the side, feeding my kids is number one in my financial priorities. If I had to starve, get an abysmal credit rating, have the bailiffs knocking on my door because I wasn’t paying my bills I would do if that was the only way of feeding my kids. There are families in poor financial states. The government may be, but not always, to blame for that. But that poor financial state means that they’re struggling to pay their rent/mortgage, gas and electric, water bills etc. If a kid isn’t being fed, then the parent(s) needs to take a good look at themselves. I did realise afterwards that I may have been whooshed 😂 All the same, you're dead right, I'm with you. Kids come first, no matter what. There are 100%, parents with fucked-up priorities. Watching some of the stuff I've seen over recent days on TV, it sickens me, to be honest.

At least there seems to be a growing number of people & organisations that are looking to help here, in spite of the Government. Local restaurants, multinationals, local shops. Making a difference.
Saw a great example by Pabna in Leek earlier; Bargain Booze in Blurton getting involved; power to the people 👍

We could make a small start by making private schools scrap their ridiculous charitable status, the tax saving equates to an £11 per pupil per week subsidy.
You could make enough packed lunches to feed one of the most vulnerable kids in our society for an week with that......

It’s a disgrace. I’ve bought my booze and fags, paid my sky tv subscription, done the food shopping for the week but only for myself and now I’ve got nothing left and my poor kids are going to starve for a week until the school feeds them again. And now I’ve got some idiot thinking that the first pennies I have should go on feeding my kids and not the last! The bloke down the road has been furloughed. You should see the size of his telly, and he has a mobile phone and a Netflix subscription. 3 kids as well he’s got, he should have thought about having kids before he started leeching off the government. I don’t pay my hard earned taxes for him to wave his work shy lifestyle in my face......

If an MP voted to try and help give children free meals at the taxpayer’s expense (like most of the other parties’ MPs) then it’s not hypocritical to accept meals subsidised by the taxpayer. If an MP voted to deny children free meals (like most Tories) then it is hypocritical. Is that a bit clearer for you or do you need further explanation? Happy to provide further clarification if required

We can blame the government for not doing something about the kids going hungry though. It really isn't 99% of the parents' fault either but it certainly is 100% not the fault of the children. It's not about apportioning blame as to why it's happening it's about giving the kids some food to eat. It's a simple solution to a rather heinous problem.

It appears Tory run Staffs county council will be offering a £15 voucher? This area covers N-u-L, Lichfield and Burton whose MPs voted against assistance? Perhaps, local Tory councillors have their feet more firmly planted on the ground than many of their fellow Tory MPs? I was astounded at the prices in the HoC restaurant! If you ate out within a mile of the Commons you would pay three or four times that? Of course, the bar is subsidised too! No wonder so many Tory MPs are so well rounded and I don’t mean personality wise?

I note the 4 Tory MPs for Stoke & Newcastle voted against! Bell, Brereton, Gideon and Gullis hang your heads in shame! And to think Gullis was a school teacher too! He has mentioned how he was a teacher in deprived areas too. Staggering really. Still, he is just an opportunist MP who was lucky enough to be selected as the Con candidate and rode the Brexit Wave. I hope he enjoys the 5 years as he will most definitely not be back. Not sure about that.

Quite right it's taxpayer funded. As a tax payer, things I'm happy for my tax to be spent on: Children of all ages receiving food packages. Things I am not happy for it to be spent on: Faulty PPE, failing track and trace, non-built vanity bridge projects, £7k-a-day consultants. 5 Conservative MP backbones, and 1 Conservative Mayor. Exactly. Please please spend my tax on educating and feeding people. If I pay more can we educate and feed more?
