Really pleased everything went well for you mate. I've got family history with this horrible disease as my dad and grandad both had it, and I'm on an annual check-up as a result. Hope your recovery goes well, yesterday's result must have certainly helped ! Al the best ! thanks lads , home now , if anyone wants to ask something go ahead , not an expert ,but may be able to help Great news that it went well and you back home. Many moons ago, an ex father-in-law of mine (ex by divorce) had an operation for prostate cancer. I'm sure he had the chose of two procedures of how to deal it with it. Is that still the case that they give you the choice of how to operate on it?

its clogging the tube 🤣 How you feeling though mate? What’s the recover schedule like. Let’s face it, it’s gonna happen to one in two of us unfortunately feeling ok , sore around the stomach 5 or 6 probs where the robot done his job. They fill you with gas or something to blow your stomach up to do the op.When it starts to leave you the pain , got pains in both shoulders like someone sticking a knife in you, the doctor said it will get better. No heavy duty stuff for 6 to 8 weeks . Walking is good because your standing sitting and getting in and out of bed is sore on the gut ,oh laughing , coughing is also sore on the gut

Good luck and hope it’s all going well Update. A week later I should be going home. Six days of morphine and codeine left me constipated so an enema this morning ( I can’t believe people pay for those for pleasure ) and catheter removal - fill another 500 ml jug and off I go with two massive scars, stomach full of plastic and a bag full of drugs. Off work for six weeks, no carrying lifting etc. v sore to say the least but the issues seem to have been addressed. Thanks everyone. Now, where’s my Scythe….? 💀 Excellent news Hamsta, only just reading through this. Hope you recover swiftly.

Cheers Badger Nothing at all. That is the thing that is scary about it was nothing at all that triggered it. it just start kicking in Sunday of last week and by the Tuesday, I honestly did not know what I was going to do with myself, I got that low Yep I get plenty of those days myself, can just be little things under the surface you don’t feel are worth talking about but eventually you overthink and get stuck in a rut of doom. I know exactly what you mean. Then one day you wake up and think “why was I so worried about that?”. Keep going mate and just put the bad days down to the fact you’ve probably just got out of the wrong side of bed a bit too often! I always think of stuff going on in the world that’s out of my control and I wouldn’t say it makes me feel better but it makes it appreciate what you’ve got and that with a little tweak here and there you will feel so much better. Good luck over the next few weeks and if you’re feeling low don’t be afraid to talk to someone or even post on here for a pick me up or occasional advice. We’re a pretty good lot really👍🏻 Well said mate, very good advice. Kind of crazy how the tiniest things so often affect our mood. I always try and think "Control the controllables and anything else isn't worth worrying about because it's out of your control." Easier said than done of course. I occasionally but increasingly get these intense moments of nostalgia which can make me feel a bit down or even anxious - I find it's often on a Sunday as many do, so I guess it's a form of Sunday night blues. But they are not always confined to a Sunday. The feelings are so often centred around happy childhood memories although occasionally extends out to moments with friends, girls I've dated, places I've visited, moments in my career etc. It can make me feel emotional, sometimes regretful wishing I could turn back the clock either to experience it once again or to do something differently. Life is awesome and these nostalgic thoughts are normally of the happiest moments yet they definitely trigger a sad emotion. As you say, I wake up the next day and wonder what the hell that was all about! Fascinated to know if others often get bad nostalgia for no reason that is kind of like Sunday night blues but not always on a Sunday.😅 Well aware this is totally pathetic in comparison with many of the situations on here. But it's great to see so many finding solace on this thread. 😊

Oh well. Back on the meds again. Starting with 75mg Venlafaxin slow release* (a brand of SNRI) as previously taken. Will probably increase the dosage after consultation with the shrink. * Sardonic smile at having to take meds from a package with "RETARD" printed on it in very bold letters!

But it's great to see so many finding solace on this thread. 😊 Music is a big one for that, not so much anything current but if I hear a tune that my old man would have played driving us around when I was a kid. Not because anything has happened but it's getting to the point where sooner or later one day it will. Daft thing really but driving along and ELO Don't bring me down (the irony of the song title and this thread too)! I've heard Gary Moore with Parissienne Walkways and Queen with Radio GaGa at my grandparents funerals and they always set me off thinking nowadays.

How do people cope with stress on here?
In work, in life?
There must be people who have objectively, as well as subjectively, stressful jobs?
How do you stop it from becoming too overwhelming?

On a kind of different level,I got diagnosed with combined ADHD last October. Their is a shortage of meds of what they wanted me to put me on but a chance meeting at a Liam Gallagher / John Squire gig a few weeks ago with an old friend that is a pharmacist, he gave me some pointer's on how to get them and now I get them through him on a private prescription. Not sure if I can feel a difference though apart from around 1.00pm every day, i feel spaced out for an hour or so. The meds that I'am on are Elvanse

I work for myself and last year on a personal level it was a nightmare which effected my business. I got diagnosed with a number of things including ADHD, severe depression and severe anxiety. What, I did, because I really did not feel like that I had a choice and I actually went abroad from mid November until mid January. Got some nice sun, got exercising and rebuilt my business again. I know your situation will be different but I had nothing, so, I'm not sure if what happened to me was fortunate or unfortunate.

The meds that I'am on are Elvanse Too early to say yet, as I only started a couple of days ago (and managed to leave the pills at home for a weekend away 🤦). And the meds are of a type where you build up slowly (several weeks) to the optimum dosage. But I've been through this a few times already so I know what to expect. Thanks for asking.🙏 Elvanse (a stimulant of the Ritalin type) is widely prescribed throughout Europe but is a different sort of med to mine - still, it doesn't hurt to keep an eye on your mood whatever the situation - which is what led me to the decision to start again. In the past I've not noticed any quick or substantial improvement in my mood until a few months in(!) - and the only side-effect has been a fizzy feeling when I forgot to take them. You'll probably know relatively soon - although it could be weeks or months - whether your meds are right for you or not, but there are plenty of others to try. Good luck.

Some are able to rationalise their problems as being trivial compared to other people's but it doesn't work for everyone, and your feelings are real for you. Talking to somebody usually helps me in the short term.
