You'd like to think he'd do a season in the Prem, but would many teams go for him on those wages?

PSG unfortunately makes a lot of sense. Poch. Neymar. Di Maria. Best league in the world is the Premier League. Messi has got absolutely nothing to prove but Christ I'm surprised he doesn't want to play here. Possibly a part of the thinking is he would be challenging himself to beat the number of goals Ronaldo scored here and would always have that comparison to live up to. With PSG heās not got that to contend with. Plus if they win the league next season (which they should do) heās got them back to where they belong. And then of course, youāve got the champions league and their plans are aligned in that. Back to where there they belong? Every club has to earn that right, Marsellie and St Ettiene have more titles, PSG are closing in but only because of the recent money

Intresting this.
Messi and Jorge Messi [his father and agent] came to Barcelona with everything on their side, and inside Barcelona, for the confirmation that a new contract was going to be signed.
Everything had been agreed for three weeks.
But Joan Laporta [Barcelona president] told Jorge Messi they had looked into the detail, not only of the contract but of the financial deal La Liga have reached, and 15% of that money can go to wages.
They saw this was not enough to beat financial fair play. It cannot be done. A lot of the players Barcelona wanted to get rid of donāt want to go.
Antoine Griezmann, Jordi Alba and Gerard Pique - all that is not happening. It means even though Messi had reduced his wages by 50%, Barcelona cannot afford him.

Higuin, Aguero Dybala, Mascherano- all part of his usual squad. That's a pretty modest list of "superstars". The Argentina teams Messi has played in have been incredibly mediocre, none more so than the one that just won the CA. Obviously they achieved some measure of redemption with that win but they've been in the doldrums, and seen by the public as bottlers and wasters, for most of the last three decades. Other than France and Spain, who had more Potter- not Brazil ( Neymar), not Germany? Itās all relative.

Wonder if Man City kept the receipt for Grealish. The situation with the number 10 shirt could be awkward. Maybe Messi would end up with 100 if he goes there. I do wonder if Messi will regret it if he doesn't leave Barcelona, by never trying another league.

A six month contract on Ā£20k a week to really put himself in the window at Stoke through the autumn and winter should both prove a point and get him the move he wants for the new year!

Either the club are trying to put pressure on la liga ref ffp or they are using it so messi still leaves a reluctant hero

I wonder if he's aware of the famous " wet and windy Tuesday night" expression? He addressed it a few years ago by saying he grew up playing on pitches covered in glass in Rosario, so he's no stranger to tough conditions.

I know it's the old 'what attracted you to multi-millionaire Paul Daniels', but I really wouldn't bother going to PSG or Man City if I was him. Partly because they're both now soulless petrodollar clubs but also partly because he's got all the money that he could ever need. Even if he went to Nuneaton Borough, he'd rake in an obscene amount of money from equipment sponsorship alone. Why go and play for a club that's basically got an infinite money cheat turned on and has little competition (apart from the money and the inevitable trophies and so on)? He's already done that with Barcelona. If he wants to do something really great, he could do a Maradona and go to a much less fashionable club, leading them to success. He could even go back to Newell's Old Boys in his hometown of Rosario.
Of course, if I was Messi then I'd want to come and play for Stoke, but I'm not sure that I'm the best objective judge of what his intentions may or may not be.

Imagine if he did just say fuck it and come here for lols though, it would be arguably the biggest football story of all time. š¤£ I expect heāll end up in the premiership. Would rather he went to a club other than Man City though tbh. But my guess is heād like a crack at winning the premiership as thatās something that is used to support Ronaldo in the Ronaldo vs Messi debate.

Would love to see him in the Prem, but I think he has too much to lose by failing here, so heāll go to France. I donāt know why anyone in their right mind would go to a small club with limited funds half way across the world. Heās been in Europe most of his life now. Iād imagine heāll go for the biggest European club, with the most money, nearest to Barcelonaā¦..so, Paris.
