3 down and still nothing from Stoke twitter ,Bayern is right about the media side on the underage teams Burnley had a twiiter feed with updates, also covering their U23 game. First 2 Burnley goals Rooney headers from set pieces, 3rd ball over the top for forward to run onto (hung up in the wind) and Sparrow was a long range angled shot. According to Burnley feed.

Stoke's feed does cover u23s now and again but not if on the same day as the first team. I suspect one person for one job and cannot be in two places at once like it has been for years. As you are aware most U18/U23 details I look at come from Ruane's and another poster i have seen them at the odd game.

It's quite incredible really for a club of this size. Do we even post match reports?

Like if there is a stream for the u23 game tonight why has knowledge of that come from a Leeds journo? That isn’t Tony Scholes’ fault.

The initial fault may not be down to him - someone in the media department you would think. But one of the main (possibly THE MAIN) job of a CEO is to ensure that all his heads of department are doing their jobs properly. So a major part of it certainly IS Tony Scholes' fault.

Some responsibility needs to be taken by those actually doing the job.

Don't worry bayern, I agree with you about the media team - but I don't like to see Scholes avoiding a full share of the blame when it quite clearly is both his fault and the fault of the media department. What makes it worse, is that with no fans allowed at games, the club should be even more alert than usual to create opportunities to engage fans with the club's activities. U23 and U18 games should be streamed - or at least recorded to show later - and regular video updates should be provided showing training and other aspects of club life. They should take a leaf from what other organisations are doing during the covid pandemic. The internet is full of online things to watch and do from online choirs, online political conferences, online videos of dogs, cats, staycations from Cornwall to Scotland, mothers union meetings etc. etc.

Prior to lockdown he was probably going to lose his job as the junior member of the department due to the cutbacks that club was beginning to apply. Since lockdown he now does commentary on all their U23 games and spends the rest of his time posting videos and interviews from U23 games/players and updating and monitoring their U23 twitter & other social media accounts. When you consider that a number of other roles within the office/commercial side of the club must have vanished over the last 6 months it is surprising that we apparently can't find someone to take on a similar role here.

Interesting, but it should not be surprising - to anyone but staff at Stoke City! When you look at businesses and organisations which have flourished since the pandemic started, most of them are either dealing with the pandemic itself, or they have been in a position to ramp up their online activities - be that in retailing or in the provision of online services. Until fans are allowed back into stadiums en masse, football clubs are, effectively, now part of the online/broadcast entertainment industry. A pity Stoke City haven't realised that this means that they should do ALL THEY POSSIBLY CAN to boost their online output.

Until Scholes has left at best we will be behind the times

I would hope there’s at least someone else between him and the media manager tbh. I mean there might not even be a stream but there shouldn’t be a doubt about it. That’s really poor in itself.

Yeah it’s good they’re doing it definitely.
But the comms around it is appalling and I really don’t give a shit what anyone says. It shouldn’t be announced first by a Leeds journo then 3 hours before kick off.
Christ if you advertised enough in advance could you get enough people to try and get a sponsor for the stream for a few hundred quid?
I know it’s not much but every little helps.
