Where are we up to with left back signing rumours?
If we’re looking in and around the Championship, I’d like one of the following:
Rico Henry - Brentford Clarke Odour - Barnsley Jay Dasilva - Bristol City

What left back problem!? Lol to quote! 😂😂 exactly the reason for the thread! I have more faith in O’Neill even if we didn’t get a LB this summer that we could see Tymon finally come through, or Corrigan from the 23s.

It will be Brunt given where we are with the squad and FFP. Cheap, cheerful and experienced.
If not Brunt, it will be Fox for the same reason.

I think we've probably kissed goodbye to anything glamorous or expensive this summer and we've pretty much completed our transition back into the ranks of average Championship payers now thanks to FFP
Think last summer was our last chance for a Rico Henry or a DaSilva (and to be fair, those two were mentioned a lot on here when the supposed chase of Justin hit the buffers).
You'd think the left-back will be cheap and cheerful like anyone else that arrives - someone like Fox who's been linked, with hopefully Brunt as back-up.

When are they going to make a decision on possibly suspending ffp? I thought today was the pay cap vote?

Dasilva similar story No idea re Odour (is that really his name?) Robinson from Wigan, he'd be cut price and be keen on the move you'd think?

Chelsea always have an extensive squad. I’ve heard a bit about Ian Maatsen

I think we'll end up with Fox as I hope we won't go down the same road again as we did with Ward (ev. Brunt), but I'd love to see someone with pace instead. I also hope MON can make Tymon defend properly as he has the pace required for the fullback position.

That's exactly what five managers and countless coaches have been imagining for the last three summers. In fact the current bunch of coaches are certain that Tymon's going to be the next big thing... I would still buy a left back, if it was the only type we could get.

Surely that makes him very affordable Hickey at Hearts going for £1.5m too (& very low wages) We don't need to break the bank to sign a good left back

Very odd! And if Watford and WBA are in for Robinson, yo'd think they'd get him ahead of us too? www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/aaron-hickey-southamptons-radar-hearts-20271025Manchester City scout Andy Cousins has also watched Banks and Hickey regularly. Cousins does City’s scouting but also assists with the Northern Irish national team, where he works with Hearts assistant head coach Austin McPhee.

Why not use the loan market for a left back and that gives us time for Tymon to cut it one way or another? Fox sounds really unspectacular and not at all like what we need. Unless MON thinks Tymon can develop from the off (how likely is that?). There's a lot of quality around but none that will jump at joining us so a loan makes sense to me unless there's a bargain to be had courtesy of Cousins and his scouting. With FFP and us loaning folk out, I can't see why we don't go down that road for one or two positions. I know it's a mantra for a lot of us, but left back, DM and a right winger are the top three priorities given where we are with squad personnel at present. All three could be loans but I wouldn't expect us to do that. For me young Skipp at Spurs for DM or Ampadu?

Gibbs is 30, about to turn 31. If we can get him for next to nowt I'd have him, but only then.

Did any young LBs stand out in League One last year? Not really, but I would be inclined to check out Doncaster's Reece James. He's an all-rounder; a good defender, but also capable of getting forward to put shots in and make chances. He can also play left-midfield if required, so he's adaptable. I doubt he'd be too expensive and he's someone MON and his coaches could really help make even better.

Unless he has a family who are settled in Wigan area? he could travel no upheaval involved.
