Is Jack coming into some kind of form? Sounds like hes played well today and has come through pre season conceding only 1 goal...a penalty. Did you see him flap at that corner today?....that was cringe worthy. I hope Fulham weren't watching. Now I know why he doesn't come off his line for corners. No flapping on the highlights I saw.

If Davis doesn’t start the season first choice then he’ll never be first choice

It’s on the when do we play Leeds and Newcastle thread Dave. To his credit he did come out for the cross at least.

He hasn't but if Jack is anything like he can be he's infinitely superior to Davies...and any other keeper in the league for that matter. Butlands representatives have made it crystal clear he wants to leave. Regardless of form he shouldn't be anywhere near this team. Get him gone and get him replaced. Agreed. O’Neil got rid of Ndiaye and Etebo when they wanted to leave. If that is correct why is he playing today.

He made a decent save that led to the corner. However I have to say he was in no mans land on the corner of the six yard box when the cross came in. There again “one” incident is being highlighted

There again “one” incident is being highlighted On the Newcastle twitter feed I think. With Jack, it's not just one incident though is it? If you saw that kind of flapping from a corner in Sunday League you think 'Oh Dear!' he was just totally in no-man's land.

Agreed. O’Neil got rid of Ndiaye and Etebo when they wanted to leave. If that is correct why is he playing today. International duties Or because not once has he posed a problem with anything other than his poor form. He's not agitated for a move, hasn't said he'd rather be anywhere other than here and he's not caused any problems for the manager behind the scenes. He's simply played badly and is likely to start the season on the bench as a result. Like many I hope he gets a move but unlike many i don't want him to go because he's wank, a tosser, a trouble maker or anything else that involves something other than his form last season. If he stays (and hes happy to stay if a move doesn't come he likes. He's said numerous times himself he wont leave for sake of leaving) and recovers form and confidence, that can only be good for our chances this coming season.

Davies away on international duty and Jack has a couple of clean sheets.
I can see Jack starting in goal next week which would be hugely unfair given the last few months

Also, Davies has played 6 games for us. Brentford - howler for their goal. Birmingham - steady. Bristol City - played well. Brentford - excellent. Forest - average on their goal. Blackpool - average nearly cost us with a weak Parry. Great at peno shoot out. Thats it though. Not really much to go on. Certainly it wouldn't be hugely unfair if Butland played given 2 clean sheets against PL opposition, albeit in friendlies.

Jack's spent the last 2 years losing the No1 jersey, game, by game, by game. He's been poor, bordering on shite at times. Davies has come in and generally, done everything that Jack was struggling to do, very well. Maybe Butland was just always over-rated.

I think we need a new keeper, Butland is shot and I'm not at all convinced by Davies.

That corner yesterday shows that. He is coming for stuff he doesnt need to and not coming for stuff he should. A move benefits all I think, IF we get some sort of fee for him.

Yes that's what a lot of agents do Well if my agent was doing things I didn't want them to, they'd be sacked. If Jack's agents are saying these things, it's likely to be with Jack's consent... although Jack probably made the caveat that he himself will not say he wants to leave.

In his case it's obvious Stoke have agreed with Butland he can leave, as such there's no real issue with his agent touting him via the media

Fulham's No.2 keeper off to Boro on loan.
Wonder if this'll spark anything from Fulham. Their fans seem to think it means they'll definitely sign another keeper now
