4231 with Obi and Cousins as the two, he’s mental if he goes with anything else atm When Allen is fit he starts before Obi, offers more energy especially going forward. Clucas looks surplus to requirements Is that a priority from the 2 in that formation though? I’d say you need a proper sitting DM (Cousins) and a composed ball player (JOM). Plus we have no idea how well Allen will come back and how long it will be before we can count on him as a starter.

It might be more a question of if than when, but even if it's when Allen will have to "eased back in". In the O'Neill modus operandi that could mean a long time before Allen is fully trusted again. It could be a while before he's up to previous standards anyway and even when he is there remains a question if the team has moved on without him. Mikel is cut above every other choice, including Allen. He is the fulcrum of the team in a way Allen never was.

He has now set his level with several very competent performances.
If he keeps this level up he will be starter in every game. That will allow his midfield partner to be able to go forward and hopefully find decisive passes for the front players.

Without Campbell we can’t afford a two that don’t contribute to the attack. We have to go 4-1-4-1 and Allen is better than JOM in that shape, probably Clucas too

Proper team player and a top, top pro. MON's Ray Wallace, and that's meant as a compliment.

Cousins needed bringing into the side.
It may not have felt it but JOM’s injury was definitely a lucky one and you need them.
Just wish he’d come back now because alongside Cousins we should have a really good midfield.
But the only way it was going to happen was how it did. Just a shame it took the injury but definitely one that will help the season.

That’s a great interview. Seems a good solid head. Spoke of those core players yet to come back that are the ones of a stoke spine and who we see as having a voice. He’s part of the back line and confidently said, ‘we are now doing our job’ time that are forward play show what they are made of (tricky considering it’s wafer thin up there, anyways). He Alluded massively to the fact of getting rid of the bad eggs, the negativity from the squad - it would now be great if we could do the same with some of our support for our club that is on this forum.

So fans aren’t allowed in but assassins with snipers loosely disguised as cameramen can just stroll in real easy?

A really good pro, who obviously appreciates how lucky he is to be a pro footballer. You can see how he has grown each game, now comfortable receiving balls in tight areas. Possibly got advice from Mikel?.

If Joe can comeback in the shape he was before he is going to make a lot on here look very foolish How long has he been here and only now he's going to start making people look foolish , he doesn't fit in its as simple as that, he isn't as good on the ball as Mikel, he isn't as good a goal scorer as Clucas (when allowed to get forward) and he can't play as a DM, even if he comes back the same player after such a bad injury there isn't a place for him in the team, Cousins has seen to that with his constant motm performances.

I think he’s improving his simplicity of the game.
What frustrated me most about him when he was playing before was how he was so slow at getting the ball out of his feet and making a pass.
But now he’s winning the ball back and using it very quickly. Exactly what he needs to be doing. Absolutely fantastic performance yesterday from the lad.

He seemed to have so much time on the ball and kept it simple - just made the game look effortless.
