Did his job again Mikel is a Rolls Royce player but good to know Cousins is a sound deputyNot anymore, he's shown he should be first choice from now on. Ahead of Mikel? Not for me.

Along side, Mikel isn't the DM we needed but in saying that has done well and looked good when having to go forward create a little so for me its those two in the middle, seems perfect for the midfield MON wants.

He’s a very limited footballer who at the minute is doing the job he’s being asked to do but alongside Tymon(needs must i know) it’s not a midfield pair to worry the opposition

Very good again. Interesting to see what happens in midfield when Mikel, Clucas and Allen are all fit.

We need a defensive minded midfielder to sit in front of that back four and offer protection. Clucas, Mikel, and Allen don’t seem to be able to do that.

It turns out that he’s not the player I remember him being at Chelsea. Lots of quality on the ball but very little protection for the defence.

Cousins has been a decent replacement for JOM, nevertheless it will be good to get one of our better players back.

His passing has been excellent. They should play together but there's not a chance Cousins should be dropped any time soon.

I agree, play them together as if Cousins wins it and gives it to Mikel then he never gives it away and he may be able to venture a little bit further forward

I don't think it would suit the system MO'N's trying to play though. It seems like he likes the Clucas' or the Tymon's because they make runs into the attacking third. Can't imagine Mikel doing that.

But yes Cousins winning it, laying it off to the footballers, ace.

Yeah I agree but we have soon Mikel affecting the game in the final third with some really fine defence cutting passing. And even if it allows Mikel to be rested then that will help. Mikel played way too many games before he got injured and it was definitely to his detriment.

Very unlucky to be left out at the start of the season given the way he finished last and be a travesty I’d hes left out for Mikel but defence and venture midfield is looking good but by god we need some forward players a goal scorer a wide right and a 10 to put pressure on Powell

Jones’ initial hyperbole when he signed started things off badly. He’s a decent midfield destroyer at this level who gets around the pitch well. He’ll probably never play any higher than this, but he’s certainly doing us a good job for us at the minute.
The only concern is when he gets knackered as he’s going to have played lots of games in a short space of time soon. Him, Powell and Fox must be running on fumes.

Agree with last sentence and the only way to rest Fox would be to revert to a back 3 system

I can understand that but I think Mikel has shown he can get the ball forward and make some great passes to start an attack, he's not really been a DM since he arrived.
