That’s kind of what I’ve said isn’t it? Don’t want to discount conditions, that’s why I said Leach or Archer, especially as Archer hasn’t trained a lot in the lead up. Also, Ben Stokes will be Number 5 bat, captain and expected to bowl lengthy spells. So in summary, 4 seamers plus Stokes or 3 seamers plus Stokes and a spinner🤷🏻♂️. I’m not sure Leach should be dropped yet just because Moeens back although would be good to see how Moeen shapes up after his sabbatical. Nope. I’m saying 3 seamer plus Stokes. We should NEVER play 4 seamers plus Stokes. Never, ever, ever (again!). Got ya🤣 So Moeen batting 7 or 8 and 3 seamers plus Stokes👍🏻

At the risk of starting another debate I always find when Moeen bats 8 he gives his wicket away as he’s more likely to be with a tailender. With his obvious batting talent I would rather see him a place up the order?

We should NEVER play 4 seamers plus Stokes. Never, ever, ever (again!). When you consider that injuries are running at about 200% of the average since the restart of football do you not think that the selectors might have similar concerns about strains and other muscle injuries due to the total lack of cricket for the last 4 months? I can see them being extra cautious and selecting an extra bowler just in case, at least for the first Test. I am not keen on the idea but I wouldn't be in the least surprised if Woakes and Curran both played to try and squeeze as much batting as possible out of the tail. With 3 Tests in 3 weeks, it also wouldn't surprise me if each seamer only plays 2 of the 3 games, with Stoke playing at least one Test as a batsman who will only bowl as a last resort.

I’d play Ali at 8 with Buttler in the team but at 7 if Foakes plays.

Sky Sports website is streaming Team Stokes v Team Buttler at the moment. No commentary but a chance to take a look at the younger players against the experienced ones. Bracey and Lawrence batting at the moment👍🏻

13 man squad announced. Denly retained so no place for Lawrence. Bess the only spinner with Leach as a reserve and Ali left out entirely. Butler keeps wicket with Foakes reserve and Bairstow left out. How many chances do we need to give a 34 year old batsmen?🤦🏻♂️

How many chances do we need to give a 34 year old batsmen?🤦🏻♂️ I expected Denly to play, mainly because if he didn’t we’d have a top four consisting of Burns, Sibley, Crawley and probably Lawrence which is massively inexperienced. Whilst Denly hasn’t scored the big runs he’s a least done a decent job in using up balls and preventing a top order collapse which is something we’d become accustomed to. I’d fully expect Denly to make way for Root for the second game, unless he goes on to make a big score in the first match. The side pretty much picks itself for the first match: Burns Sibley Crawley Denly Stokes Pope Buttler Bess Archer Broad Anderson

Yeh that’ll be the side. Thing is if you don’t try the likes of Lawrence against teams like West Indies at home when will they try him🤷🏻♂️

It’s nice to finally have some competition in the side, things are slowly starting to take shape.

Well after a long hot, dry spring and summer, I have settled down in front of the TV ready for some "proper" cricket and it is raining. Who would have ever expected that?

That West Indies pace attack although inconsistent looks like it could cause no end of trouble if they click:
Holder Joseph Roach Gabriel
Big test for the inexperienced lads at the top of the order, got a feeling this test could be a close one.....

Looks like the batsmen have forgotten what that bit of wood in their hands is for during the layoff.

Looks like the batsmen have forgotten what that bit of wood in their hands is for during the layoff. Reckon it'll be more difficult to get in the swing of batting than bowling.

Windies always have a good display or two in them, and we've been shaken by their bowling attack in recent years.
I actually think this could be a fairly close series, and it looks like Sibley's lost his off stump in addition to 12kg.

No wonder he lost all that weight so quickly, he’s just lost a bit of timber in one over! I’ll get me coat😬
