7 more balls and it's raining again. Just give it up as a bad job and start again tomorrow when I'm working from home..... It's a good job Chris Gayle no longer plays Test cricket. He would be knackered already with all this running on and off the pitch when it rains.

Whisper it quietly but a good recovery from Burns and Denly in really tricky conditions......

Cricket definitely adapts better to no crowds than other sports. Let's be honest most test grounds around the world (UK, Cape Town and Oz aside) are largely empty.
It's great to see it back and Denly and Burns definitely look proper England players these days.

Windies have been a little wayward in the last half hour, trying to bowl to an attacking field

It also means that the game doesn't keep stopping when the drunk behind the bowlers arm tries to hide behind an invisible object.

Was out enjoying Glencoe’s majestic mountains yesterday and forgot all about the cricket (it’s easy to forget things on top of a big hill on a wonderful day!).
When I got back to the car I learned I hadn’t missed much.
The big news, selection wise, was the omission of Stuart Broad. I guess this was done with a view to the next Ashes tour when we know we won’t be employing Anderson and Broad in tandem. It’s a shame for Broad, but it’s the right call.

Is play starting earlier today to catch up on lost time?

Is play starting earlier today to catch up on lost time? No, it'll get added on to the end of each days scheduled play. Considering there's no crowds to worry about you'd think there would be no problem starting earlier though.

There’s no fans to consider so it’s daft to wait until 11:00, that way if conditions are good they can extend the day and still be done by 17:30/18:00 whilst the light is good.....

What you have to consider is the bar doesn’t close until 2am and breakfast can be ordered up to 10am. So best leaving it until 11am before starting just in case😉

Hopefully a full day's play or at least till 5 when Stoke kick off, even then flick back over at 5:15 when we're 2-0 down.

Favourite West Indie quick bowler?
Very tough thing to choose - but I’d go for Curtly Ambrose.
So many others though...
Anyone else agree with me?
Edit - a wee video of the man at his best.
(I could also have said he has the best celebration!)

(I could also have said he has the best celebration!) My first ever test match was against the Windies as a kid and remember being so excited about seeing Ambrose and Walsh. All I can remember is we lost and they bowled us out rather sharpish, which was the norm back then.

Yet another start and wicket for Denly. Hoping Crawley makes a good score now to keep Denly out of the next test They might as well pick Bairstow instead of Denly. They both seem to struggle with leaving the gate open but at least Bairstow is capable of making decent scores when it is his day at the crease.

Pretty tough conditions for batting.
But 3 down for 50 is, sadly, too familiar a story for England.

Hadn't realised that each team now has 3 reviews. I presume this was brought in to satisfy India. One review for Virat Kohli to use every time he is given out and then 2 for the rest of the team.

Windies taking a leaf out of the Australian playbook from last year. Extremely consistent bowling, not trying anything outside of the box, full credit.
