Didn't it all sort of start with Samit Patel if I can remember correctly? basically one of the first who wasn't deemed "fit" enough to play for England and we haven't looked back since when it comes to that side of the game.

Rahkeem Cornwall's setting a new benchmark for test cricketers everywhere***.
Back to the good old days of "Christ, where can we hide him in the field where the ball won't go near him".
"Quietman, how do you fancy fielding at silly mid off today?"
"Okay skipper. Buy me a pint, put a lid on me head, book me an ambulance and I'll do it".
*** but I get the feeling he's an absolute riot in the dressing room & after-match drinkies. Fair play to him, he's more than an average bowler. And fair play to the Windies for not just picking him, but for actually playing him & giving him decent bowling spells.

Willey on fire here. 4 for 12 Terribly harsh on him missing world Cup last year It was very harsh - but the right decision. He’s doing a great job here showing he’s the best of the rest. Question - who would you rather have in your team, Willey or Sam Curran. I think I’d go for Willey.

Willey showing why we go back to the “old” guard.
But, I’m still not convinced Denly or Vince should be anyway near this squad.

Yep - Vince did his usual “in and out” show.
Well done to Billings who took us home with a classy half century in partnership with Captain Morgan.
Apparently Billings only played because Denly failed a medical (as opposed to failing generally when he actually plays).
Good start to the series from England overall. A little rusty, but our second string has plenty in the tank.

A little rusty, but our second string has plenty in the tank. We’ve certainly got an embarrassment of riches in the 50 over format. Think we could put out two teams of 11 and they would be equally strong. Happy days. Side note why has Denly been included AGAIN when there are no short format tournaments any time soon🤷🏻♂️

Never thought I’d ever see the day that James Vince picked up an international wicket with a bouncer.

Billings and Willey both taking advantage of the opportunity they’ve been given.
I particularly like the way Billings bats. Very impressive.

Pissing down in Glasgow today - so pleased to see it’s a lovely day on the south coast meaning the 3rd and final ODI will be played in great conditions.
Billings and Willey have been the stand outs - particularly Billings who looks imperious with the bat.
I’d like to see him promoted to #3 today with Vince dumped and Livingston brought in.

Well - not a good start for England.
44-3
Roy’s poor series continued, Bairstow’s bluster bombed and, surprise surprise, Vince got in then got out.
Opportunity knocks for Banton, he has plenty of time against a very moderate attack to show what he can do.

England 328 all out.
Good knocks from Morgan, Banton and Willey with Curran doing well at the end.
The rest of the batting didn’t amount to much - the openers and Billing have plenty of credit in the bank.
Vince however is overdrawn. This has to be the last time we see him in an England shirt.
The same I fear may well apply to Moeen. His 5 ball innings was bizarre. It looks like his brain is fried. The solitary single he scored (which should have seen Billings ran out) was host first run of the series. It does mean though, he has now scored more runs than he has wickets to his name. He really needs to do something with the ball when Ireland bat.

He’s bowled tidily enough in the series without reward but I fear this is somewhere near last chance saloon for him. Vince, well he’s kind of like Hick in the 90s. Looks great, got good county numbers but he’s just found wanting in the mentality department. I’d get rid and possibly get Banton up the order. Liam Dawson should come in for Moeen, he can bat too.

Very poor death bowling from Willey in particular. Willey showed in this series all his good qualities but also, sadly for him, the limit of those qualities. He’s a fine late order hitter and a very effective opening bowler with a new white ball that is moving about. But when that ball gets older he is ineffective.

Inexperience and limitations on full display from Mahmood and Willey respectively.
Though Moeen got his sums wrong too, could have easily bowled himself earlier with no real risk with an extra man out. Left Willey bowling an over too many.
I get we need to move on, but jesus how badly do we miss Plunkett between overs 10-40?

Hats off to the Irish that’s a massive win for them. England’s bowlers just weren’t on it In fairness that was a second string pace attack - no Wood, Woakes, Archer, Stokes even Plunkett. And it showed. That said we should have been closer to 400 when we batted. The wicket looked a cracker to bat on.
