Cheers, I've been looking that long I've drank in most parts of town at this stage so have a reasonable grasp of the place. Hartshill certainly on the list. It’s got good parts like anywhere else, just so happens I live near the shitty end🤣 Its that sort of local knowledge they don't put in the brochures, so will tap up the thread when I find somewhere. Have only really been in the pubs/main road, which were fine.

Always avoided Noah's Ark as all I ever heard about it was trouble, but have been in all the other pubs.

Think the Noah’s is shut again, Robin Hood is shite, further on there’s something for everyone and of course with a slight divert you’ve got Penkhull or Basford each with a decent pub or two. The Hopp Inn Camra pub of the year or course. The only negative is that useful t shirt printing shop closed down the other week, no idea why👀

There’s nice areas in Hanford isn’t there and an hop, skip and jump from the M6 and then you have Trentham which is nice and borders Hanford.

Trentham used to be described as a ‘pub desert’ because there was only the man in space + trentham hotel + poachers cottage and to be fair the latter two both mainly food. However there’s three new ones now, Bod, the hem Heath and Willow @ Trentham Gardens so a much wider choice?

It’s got some well sheltered shop doorways, next time you’re in the area come and say hello. I might even give you a swig of my super strength cider😉 Joking aside for a minute, and I know that’s difficult. When I moved here around 10 years ago it was still a fairly well respected neighbourhood and friendly too. Nowadays I’d say I would be reluctant to move here due to the reasons you state above amongst others. I've never found anywhere locally to be as rough as I was warned, though actually buying a place is a significant commitment I'd obv want to get right. Fuck being stuck on a nightmare street, or having to dodge your way to the shops. Access to M6 south bound is a bonus so ideally avoiding the north of the city. Hartshill/Penkhull/Stoke/Hanley looking favourite. Would prefer a livelier area, with all the pros and cons that brings, than completely sleepy suburbia. Just ideally without my neighbours being completely mental. What about somewhere like Clayton? Ideal for M6 south, two minutes away from the A500 to get into the city and you’ve got Newcastle on your doorstep.

Cheers lads, will look down that end.
Also parking needs to not be a nightmare, so probably looking at either suburbs with a drive or a flat in town.

I know Trentham fairly well btw, but no nothing about Hanford or Clayton. Will take a spin through them and see the lie of the land.
Appreciate the suggestions.
