I didn’t mention him because I wasn’t looking to defend him. In her case, I want to know more (where did the assaults take place? what was the exact nature of the assault) before I’m willing to back down, and not just suspect this is total shithousery. But you didn't even remotely mention any of that in your original post, did you?
No I guess not. Still doesn’t change the fact I think she’s been harshly treated by the system; and if those assault charges relate to incidents that took place during her arrest at home, she’s been completely persecuted because they shouldn’t have been there to arrest her anyway. Of course she would flip out under those circumstances.

Some people are too busy playing Checkers while the media play Chess. The buzz words are all out in recent weeks; "socialist", "communist", "two tier keir", "far right", "Palestine doctor... front of queue" Labour are part of the facade in the same way Reform, Tory, Musk and the MSM are all reading from the same script. Firstly Jess Phillips is one of the most vile politicians I've known and just a few weeks ago was claiming she was "bullied" due to Palestine. And now she's trying to stoke the flames of culture wars and division by implying all doctors are palestines and she gets preferential treatment. Then we have the papers, Ricky tice and Co. Who want to associate the words socialist and communist with starmer at any opportunity. Despite him being closer in politics to Reform and Tory than any socialist. And then we have Keir himself who is doing his part with divisive rhetoric calling all protestors far right and having his centrist mates cheerlead some extreme sentences. All while continuing to arrest left wing journalists under "terrorism" laws which nobody reports. While all this is going on they're continue to push through with the Tory anti protest laws which they pretended to oppose a few months ago. The wealthiest man in the world, the pro establishment parties, the bbc, the prime minister and the newspapers owned by billionaire corporations are all playing their parts to a tee. If you're of the impression that Starmer is a communist who let's left wingers do as they wish, that doctors base your treatment of your Palestine position and that if you have right wing views you're going to be imprisoned then well done. You're playing the game of Checkers the government want you to play. If you want to play chess. Ask yourself: Whys the woman who claims Palestine supporters bully her implying that she gets preferential treatment from them? Has this individual been involved in stirring things up and lying in the past? Why do Reform, Tory, the sun and daily mail keep calling Starmer a socialist and communist when the left wing despise him? If he's not left wing then why are right wing protestors getting silly sentences? Because they're disposibal cannon fodder as the right wing don't care about working people (source - last 14 years) The narrative they want to push is that after 14 years of right wing failure that Keir Starmer is now this socialist far left PM , and when he eventually fails that it's because socialism fails. They want to position Reform as the only plausible alternative. And you have to sit back and ask yourself, if you're working class, why do all the rich people want this? And by rich I'm talking about the multi billionaires. If Reform are for thr working people and if most of our problems are from inequality. Why are the guys who own all the properties in the game of monopoly going to change the rules to make it fairer? They aren't. Play chess not Checkers. State funded centrism wants to deliver the right wing just like they're trying to do in France. As said earlier. If you despise Starmer and Labour that much just remember they're much closer to Reforms politics than they are Corbyns.

Arguably she has done some of the best work of any politician in any party in the last few decades. And, crucially, it wasn’t at all political. It was about better protecting some of the most vulnerable people in society. Whatever anyone’s personal view of her, she has achieved a rare recent improvement in our society. I can’t name that many other examples of that over the last 20 years or so.

The one who boasted (and lied) about telling the most bullied politician to fuck off live on TV because it was the cool thing to do. The same "domestic abuse" champion who was happy to use violent language about stabbing the last Labour leader, “The day that it becomes you are hurting us more than helping us, I won't knife you in the back, I will knife you in the front.” And where was our violence against women champion when Abbott was threatened to be shot? You know the one where the investigation in Labour ended 4 months before those findings but they still pretended she was being investigated. Nowhere. She's a long history of toxic feminism too. The similar dog whistles you see from the anti immigration contingent. Here was a since deleted tweet from her when a woman died in a women's refuge She was killed by another woman. She never mentioned the case again since deleting it. Then there is also another fellow colleague of Jess Phillips. Aspana Begum a victim of domestic abuse (https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-63722557) who is now a suspended Labour MP and has had her abuse weaponised against her by Labour many times over the last few years. Has Jess spoken up for her? Not once. www.thecanary.co/uk/analysis/2024/07/25/apsana-begum-labour/And more recently she has been one of the most vocal voices in whipping up "MP intimidation" like ex colleague and loser Jon Ashworth who won't fuck off from our tv screens. She's not been intimidated. Diane Abbot has and she was silent. Aspana has and she was silent. Jeremy was and she was silent. What she calls intimidation is being held to account which is part of being an MP. She doesn't give a fuck about Palestine either and has never attended any of the marches or conventions in support. She is a LFI member and like with most things Jess does it's performative politics. A bit like the girl with the middle class upbringing acting and dressing like something from shameless. If she didn't have a large muslim majority in her constituency she wouldn't have done her performative actions. She's a bit like Farage in the sense that she's plastered over our tv screens disproportionately and shoved down our throats. Someone somewhere really wants us to like her but actions speak louder than words. When people use words like grifter and career politician. I think of Jess Phillips. The Labour parties answer to Boris Johnson. If this is one of the most influential politicians in recent decades then its a damning indictment on how far our country has fallen in the same timeframe. Of course you and others, such as wannabee (contested my criticism of her in the past multiple times too), may feel differently and think she is one of the best MPs we have seen in this country in recent decades. I respectfully disagree and think she's a charlatan.

And instead it exploits the power of the state to gain more control over it's population, introduces more authoritarian measures and implements more rank bad decision making which will harm the nation. Throw in horribly divisive language, an absolute disdain of the the white working class and a crook as its party leader and you've got the modern day labour party. Why on earth would anyone want to give MORE power to these politicians?

Zero integrity. Just lies and treating us like mugs. Never the slum landlords fault. He is a disgrace. I would have thought the tenants want more than his apology. At least the new government is going to bring in the much needed landlord and tenant reforms needed as for too long, landlords like this guy have got away with terrible conditions for his tenants. This week the Grenfell report will be published and however bring more light on what is wrong and needs to change to housing in this country.

The sad thing is that if you vote to remove a 2 child benefit cap you lose the whip.
If you introduce rules for landlords as a council leader but don't follow them yourself. You keep the whip and you have labour MPs doing the rounds defending you.
And this party is meant to be on the side of parents, renters and the working class?
Stick up for working people and lose the whip. Be a slumdog landlord and get defended from all quarters.

I was a member pre Blair for 11 years and it was then a better party to empathise with working people, but that all disappeared when it became new Labour. Unfortunately the message has not yet filtered through to a lot of people who either still believe that they are on your side or simply can't see past tribalism. I see them now as nothing more than a collection of fraudsters.

What I'm struggling with is that Starmer & Co. chose to take two billion from pensioners to partly fill the 'black hole' as their first real test of how things are going to be. It's almost as if they're trying to make pensioners the first whipping dog as a lesson to everyone... that if they can rob pensioners then everything else is on the table. What was it Starmer said? "Those who have the broadest shoulders should bear the greatest burden of any austerity." Although many of those pensioners absolutely don't need a winter fuel allowance, the largest part of them (because they're old and need to keep themselves warmer than younger folk) actually do need it. I reckon Starmer & Co. will come to regret this action. It will follow them during the whole of their first tenure... and beyond.

Pensioners v high earners, the marginalised v the middle classes, Jews v Muslims, socialist MP's v right wing slum landlord MP's. You could argue that these calculated decisions were designed to get him into power. "You can't influence change if you're not in power" they say. So I look forward to seeing policy and decision making designed to help those most in need in the very near future......

Is that article not about Jas Athwal being suspended for allegations of sexual abuse? And then according to Labour insiders he was reinstated by Starmer against the recommendation of an independent legal adviser on sexual abuse and harassment. Given what we now know about how he treats his tenants too. I think this just further shows its a particular candidate problem rather than a constituency problem. This is the same constituency where at the last nomination for Labour MP: - It was identified that a large number of Labour members registered at addresses had completely different names as to what was on the electoral register. - They also became aware that some of the properties were rentals owned by Redbridge councillors. Some of the members identified during this process had apparently applied for postal or electronic votes. - When they canvassed said address, they were told by tenants that the members listed had moved out but that someone else collected their post. - Another constituency where the outcomes of the vote in the dodgy anonyvoter system, provided by Labour donors without any tendering process, didn't reflect the feelings of the people out canvassing. So yeah this appears more to be a candidate/factional issue rather than a constituency one. Unless of course you believe those with sexual allegations hanging over them are the highest quality candidates and shouldn't be suspended (which would go against your position on suspensions of conservstive mos and candidates for the same). The other candidates biggest crime was standing on a picket line with workers which was enough to lose a whip. In another life he'd have been better off renting out mould and ant infested homes to his constituents as that's quite clearly not considered as bad a crime in two tier keirs mind.

Do you have any evidence your libellous allegation that it was Starmer that reinstated Athwal? Even Squakbox didn't allege that but say it was Starmer led Labour Party NEC I think you're also on shaky ground conflating someone cleared of sexual allegations and being a Shit Landlord as testament to their overall character If you can't see that a Corbynsceptic Candidate favourite to win selection was suspended one month before 2019 Election for allegations that he was cleared of 9 months later. Or that the Corbyn Candidate was deselected for the next Election isn't Dirty Politics from both wings of the Labour Party you are being blinded by your bias.
