Crouch was steady and worth his weight, super Jon, odemwingine, in fact a good few “strikers” None of them were prolific strikers. I’d be surprised if any of em scored more than about 15 in a season. I’m talking 20/25 goal a season strikers🤔 No I get you mate but everybody is looking for them and vardy types just don’t come along too often and more often than not cost a fortune everybody wants them

We are just crap at signing goal scorers. I mean to think we never signed an out and out goal scorer in ten years in the premier league is ridiculous.

Just yet another awful “striker” we signed and have continued to sign for years. Who was the last prolific goal scorer we signed? Must be Peter Thorne🤦🏻♂️ Crouch

But what would you give for that now 😁😁😁 I know what you mean I’m only messing I agree the last prolific striker was probably Thorne And sheron and the golden one before them But we do rather have a barren patch with forwards

Pity it went wrong for him. But as he only joined at the end of Jan he was prolific for that 4/5 months

MoN's warm words were in anticipation of the striker he thought he was getting back.
He then saw the stone cold reality in training and in games (albeit he did give him a crack at claiming a shirt tbf).
Plus someone in that fwd line had to go, even if there were no pressing FFP issues hanging over us.
If he had stayed, my guess would be that he'd have played very 'averagely' and we'd all be having ano go at him (albeit not in person) and calling MoN an idiot for leaving TC / SF/ JB / SV out.
& No, there's no Gregory in that list as I'm hoping is also gone asap to be honest.
PS actually puts a decent slant on it in the Sentinel for me: that there's a decent striker in there but one that needs game time - that we can't afford to give him.
Nothing whatsoever against the guy himself (it's all KP's fault we now know) and I really hope he can go and do a Sorloth.

You could understand all this Turkish activity if it was a planned Business Model, and the Club were getting substantial loan fees for these players, like Chelsea seem good at arranging.

I was a bit worried when I read that MON was looking forward to getting him back and all that stuff, but after watching him a couple of times (and that's all it takes) he's obviously come to the conclusion that poor old Benik just isn't up to it.
What a disastrous signing he's been.
