The “Benik experiment” might simply have been a way of getting him to work harder and run more up front on his own rather than being part of a front two, he’s had less game time as he hardly played back end of the season for Bristol City. Interesting idea mate, not one that I'd considered at all. I guess we have a few more friendlies and a competitive game next weekend to see what happens. For what it's worth I would love for Benik to come through for us (and him). I just don’t think there’s anything worth reading into with friendlies. Normally the last friendly gives you an indication as to what the personnel/formation will be, until then it’s just mixing and matching to get the whole squad up to speed......

Pound for pound by quite some distance. I don’t think Jones can really be beaten to be honest. Rowett is there because he wasted so much money and delivered so little. But Jones’ record was just amazingly bad! Absolutely but I wasn't talking about ppg etc. MON corrected Jones' mess last season and put us back on an even keel. As much as Jones and his results put us in that mess, the signing of Powell alone pretty much got us back out of it once O'Neill arrived. Rowett and his spending (just on Afobe and Ince alone) have seriously limited our spending power for the forseeable future, especially when you consider what he added it to at the time. Nearly all of his signings we will hardly get a penny back on. Absolutely criminal given what he had to spend, and ultimately the road it sent us down.

If I was Afobe I would be busting a gut to cement my place in the opening game - not pisswillying around.

He's hopeless. That is sadly the simple truth of the matter. Marginally better than Hogan but that's about as far as his abilities stretch.

Rowett was given the greatest war chest of any manager in championship history, the damage he wreaked on this club has gone under the radar really, it's astonishing.

No where near as bad as rowett 10 times worse than rowett. As were a few more. No, he inherited a terrible squad, with rock bottom morale, because of Rowett, who had squandered 50 million quid. Rowett did far more damage to this club than Jones

You must have forgotten about Nathan Jones 😂 No where near as bad as rowett Rowett got some sort of tune out of some of the players. Jones couldn't get a tune out of anyone. Still both gone now, and surprisingly doing better with there new clubs.

I'm hoping we're just seeing what he can do and move on to Fletchet+1 other. After all this time, and I'd forgotten how bad he was, but it's the same old Afobe. I trust we're not going into the new season as our main striker. The game always seems a second or so ahead of him.

He needs games and coming off the back of that injury will take ages. I recall Shearer saying when he did his ACL, although he was fit it took several months to pick up the pace and touch. Now I fully accept Benik is starting from a far lower level than Shearer and will never be the striker he was, but it’s a bit harsh to be so critical this soon. And more negative comments do little to make him feel welcome He’s done really well in the championship before joining us, he hasn’t played too much since his injury No doubt he’ll come back to haunt us if we discount him right now I hope that Benik doesn’t read this message board

I think most people were quite impressed with the acquisition of Beni Kafobe if memory is correct
What started our demise, in my humble opinion, was the purchase of Berahino.
Lusted for by Sparky when TP had binned him.
The hatred between these two knows no bounds....
The whole ethos of the Club changed when that guy arrived at Clayton Wood

Like when United signed Veron - sure it didn’t work out but it was the right signing at the time. Same with Torres and Chelsea.

The whole ethos of the Club changed when that guy arrived at Clayton Wood I think the whole demise of our club started when the Pulis old guard started to disappear as Hughes was lucky to inherit them. The problem with berahino was that he had the talent but he just couldn’t be arsed and his attitude stunk. Regardless of if he was the start of the rot the club should have had the balls to stop it not just add to it with other bad buys and appearing to be gutless in their actions.

I don't particularly rate him anyway but he's never a lone striker in a million years so I kind of feel for him. In a front 2 or out the door.

I thought he was a good signing at the time to be fair.
Just don't think it's going to happen for him at Stoke and probably needs moving on
Would probably mean Vokes and Gregory staying

Have a look at the last game he played for Bristol. The ball was played in to his feet and it bounced at least 10 yards away to the opposition player who went up the field and scored.
Hes just an incredibly poor footballer.

Is MON just giving him game time, or is he playing him in preference to Vokes?
Lone up front does not suit either. Vokes Power in the air would make him my preferred choice.

Any chance we could cut him some slack?
He’s had a pretty horrific year and maybe it will take him some time to get his head sorted and back in the game.

Doesn’t take long does it for the knives to come out? Play him up front in a two then we will see a useful player. Up top by himself and he’s borderline useless and always has been.

He doesn't fit at Stoke ,he might come good elsewhere , but it's not going to happen at Stoke .
He is not rubbish ,he is not Kevin wimmer , someone will have him.
So let him have a fresh start elsewhere.
He deserves a break.
