The club went big in the first year wanting to get automatic promotion because the owners have the financial muscle to keep spending. Unfortunately, this has made it even more difficult to sell players at a loss now because the club are losing more now than if they hadn't spent as much as they did, we must be close to breaching this year. Ultimately FFP is preventing the club from selling and buying players now, so given the circumstances we need to be pleased the club are loaning out players. The better loans will cover all wages and provide a loan fee. These types of loans can only be bettered by sales which are a FFP profit. Right now those players that could be sold for a (small) FFP profit would probably be Butland, Gregory, Powell, Collins, Davies, Federeci, Edwards, Ward, Cousins and if amortised enough Allen. There may be more, but I can't think of them. We'll struggle with; BMI, Smith, Lindsay, Clucas, Woods, Ince (massively), McLean, Vokes, Afobe and Batth. So if the club don't want any of the above, it's likely to be a loan. Not sure that's accurate. We write down player values in line with their contracts so BMI would be half price now and most of the last season's summer signings would be written down enough so that we could sell them at an actual loss but breakeven for FFP purposes, if we Ince cost £7 million, we would need about £4 million for exampleand about £3.5m for Woods. This season's signings and Vokes and Afobe would be difficult though Yes values are written down, but this is the point; Ince was £10m, BMI £7m, Woods £6.5m. BMI on a 5yr deal, only 2 financial accounts since means £4.2m to break even. Doubt we'd get this. Woods was on loan till this summer, so his value hasn't decreased. Ince was 4 year; so need £7.5m to break even. Do you expect Scholes to get that?

Joke. Another loan from scfc. We are going to get fuck all from the money we have spent. Etebo will do well in a team that knows what they are doing, only going to get better as will campbell. Why will people buy them when soft touch scfc will offer a risk free loan deal everytime? No good? Send them back to scfc Long term injury? Send them back to scfc Cant afford them? Send them back to scfc Decent player? Loan him again next season The player and agents even know themselves their players can get loan deals instead of cash transfers, they will be more than happy to run down a contract for obvious reasons. The only players we will end up left with are the ones no one even wants to loan and we will be cash strapped stock piling more shite into the squad. Joke club Well I'm sure if anyone was willing to pay his wages he'd have gone to a bigger club for an appropriate transfer fee. There's obviously no market for him on his wages right now. So bearing this in mind and the fact he's not training particularly well what else are we supposed to do?

Is there a reason no other club in the history of FFP have taken this approach? Or have we finally got something right?

Most teams have sold their players when being relegated, most haven't then spent as much as we did. Unfortunately it went wrong. I believe the club are doing the right thing given the circumstances now, but it does look like alot was self inflicted.

Didn't O'Neil state several players had made it clear they felt their futures lay elsewhere and they wouldn't be selected and they would be the first to leave.I think it would be naive given that they have the same agent and one of the two has stated in the past he wants to leave, that these pair want to stay.I guess that people feel a bit betrayed that they aren't up for the fight. Do you not think the majority of the squad would be off if they got a better offer though? And their performances on the pitch very much suggested they were committed as long as they were here, which in our predicament is really about the best we can ask for. Is pretty vague speculation really enough to justify some of the vitriol and assumptions made on their characters? There isn't a lot of evidence though that there had been better offers before they were hawked about by their agent. If they don't want to be here they shouldn't be here imo. I can understand why they weren't featuring much or at all, because they were leaving as soon as the window opened disrupting the team even further.I don't want to justify the vitriol but I can understand that some may feel let down by them.

Butland Bardsley Shawcross Wimmer Pieters Etebo Badou Imbula Verlinden vokes McLean This could actually be our team now if used common sense and we knew how to keep the interest of players you actually sign (like other clubs do) Wimmer 😂 A slimmer wimmer is a beast 😄

Even if they arnt training particularly well, it's probably because they know how easy it is to get a move away from stoke, they're playing the game, obviously.
Scfc only have themselves to blame for making it so easy for them to get a loan deal ' if they feel like it'

No we aren’t saying that, but Badou has made it known he wants to leave as do others. Etebo I assume is another as O’neils comments would support this and as they are the two that are leaving then the vitriol is obviously directed at them.

I also don't know if he has indeed said that he wants to move on, whether that is simply because he isn't been picked. I've always been impressed when he's played.

I just don't get what all the wankfest is over Etebo, yes he could dribble well but that's about all I've seen him do, his passing was at best indifferent, his shooting was wank, he wasn't a good header of the ball and his tackling often ended in a free kick to the opposition. I've certainly never witnessed this world beating midfield warrior everyone seems to think he is. If we could break even with a bottle of Lucozade thrown in it would be a good deal. Gouranga.

O'Neill saying he wants to keep Allen doesn't mean the player won't want to move if a Premier League club come in for him though. 'Not expecting to move', likewise, isn't quite the same as not wanting to, is it, if a concrete offer comes in. So in the eventuality that either player leaves, they'll cop the same flack, presumably?

It's quite the double standard, surely?
