once it became obvious that the brexit party could end up taking enough votes off the Tories and thus leaving the door ajar for Corbyn then Farage had no choice but to stand his candidates down, not doing so ran the risk of an anti brexit coalition entering downing street, at least now the brexit party could conceivably win some seats and have some influence over the direction of Brexit. The goal now must be to get brexiteers of all political persuasions into parliament and cleanse it of the anti democrats.

Nige is put under pressure to stand down even in northern labour seats That’s me out...regardless of handing it to remain party No way will I vote for conservative, labour or liberals They are not bullshitting their way to my vote ever again I was hoping we could vote for change this time, alas it’s more of the same I half hope Corbyn gets in now, just to fuck up westminster and teachers the young a lesson they’ll never forget He may well get in by default.

Shows Lord Farage can be bought off !! and you cant trust him or Johnson !! as I've said before brexit is about money and the rich and mega rich not wanting to pay tax on their hidden money!! No it isnt at all…... Makes you wonder why Jezza supported leaving for thirty odd years, doesn't it?

I think that has become less likely after this move by Farage, but i suppose if Labour make a pact with the libdems it could still happen, would the lib dems climb down from their promise to scrap brexit on the first day and agree to a phoney 2nd referendum in which we'll be given a Remain Vs Remain- option ?

YouGov always seem to have the Tories well on top, but Survation make it much closer. Survation do seem to be a bit of an outlier though. The thing is, of course, the size of the popular vote may not be as important as usual with local tactical voting being more important. So all these polls need taking with a pinch of salt.

Survation were the outlier in 2017 and were the only ones any where near. They have have Labour 11 points closer than at this stage last time. Still a pinch of salt. But a smaller one the yougov.

The Brexit Party playing party politics is not going to go down well with some of their potential voters - the type that want something different than the electoral pacts that the BP have just made. The truth is they were tanking in the polls and Farage is trying to make it look like he is being kingmaker, a role he looked he could genuinly win in an election some months ago. As soon as they started polling at around 8%, they are in danger of getting 0 seats. Now Farage has his excuse for a poor performance. If you fall for it that is

If you fall for it that is I don't think thats a reflection on the brexit parties performance but more a fear by many that a vote for the BP is a vote that helps corbyn and swinson scupper brexit altogether. The Brexit party didn't even exist until recently, i'd say its performed as well as could have been expected.

If they'd made this 'pact' when they were polling as the third party and up at 18-20% then I'd agree with you. Doing it now is the equivalent of Stoke 'deciding' in the 85th min of the West Brom game to let them win.

I kind of agree with you, but the reason they're tanking is less to do with performance and more to do with the fact brexiteers are fearful that a vote for the BP is a vote for Corbyn and probably Swinson, this is the problem all new parties will have, whenever any get close all the "vote splitting" talk starts and it scares people back to the two major parties.

I’m looking forward to hearing his response when he is asked what his favourite Clash song is. What would Strummer say? Well, the lyrics from the finest 3 minutes and 59 seconds of recorded music in the history of mankind may give us a clue... You think it’s funny, Turning rebellion into money.
