So it's a Conservative Government with a smallish but workable majority.
With a very very soft Brexit.
Toss-pot Farage couldn't even go through with it at the end of the day.
what else can he do though ? He's pretty much in a check mate position, damned if he does, damned if he doesn't, if the BP get enough seats they can at least influence the direction of brexit post the election.
"England is perhaps the only great country whose intellectuals are ashamed of their own nationality. In left-wing circles it is always felt that there is something slightly disgraceful in being an Englishman and that it is a duty to snigger at every English institution" George Orwell
Farage not contesting any Tory seats. Only labour seats
Game over for Labour
Anything libs and plaid do in wales has just been trumped by Nigel
I think its the start of game over, they are still standing in seats the Tories need to win to get a majority but would hope they withdraw from some of those later in the campaign once they have got the tv time and election money otherwise still a risk of peterboro type results.

I did post this in the Brexit thread, but more relevant here I suppose:
It's a gamble for them. A gamble based on the question have Labour already lost the leave vote they're targeting or not? Just listening to the radio and an interesting stat that during the EU Elections (which I think we all know was a protest vote) showed that for every one vote you could potential attribute Brexit Party had taken from Labour, they'd taken 3 from the Conservatives.
For me, the vast majority of previous labour voters who won't vote Labour are the generation that departed years ago mostly under Blair. Looking at large swathes of the 50+ group. That's an age group that in the last election Labour had already lost based on all of the polling. They did however win every age group under it those polls also said. So if there's very little gains to be had, they are probably just going to make them that little more safe as they're splitting the Tory vote further...
The looking to the seats that the Tories are contesting with no Brexit Party, they already had that vote in 2017 as UKIP were all but gone. They have been losing their moderate support to the Lib Dems (4/5 of the top 100 marginal seats the Lib Dems are chasing are Tory held) and you won't see any great numbers of voters jumping between Red and Blue either way. It all suggests to me that the Tories at best, can hope for a comparative majority to what the had before but more realistically none as they are most likely to lose seats for fun in Scotland and London.
Farage. What a cnut! Doesn't agree with Boris' Brexit deal, but is now helping to get him to win. Two faced tweot. I voted leave, but I've now changed my mind. Do not trust these money obsessed men. The effing rich can look after themselves! The working classes will suffer again under these greedy gets! Horrible people! Rant over!
You can vote for Corbyn of course, you won't get any form of Brexit from him, you will also be wasting your vote

But surely now the whole ethos of the Brexit Party has been destroyed.?
The public will now realise what a charlatan he is (Farage that is) and will vote accordingly (or not vote at all)..
It was obvious that Farage would do this despite him saying only a week or so ago it was "a betrayal of Brexit" and "in some ways worse than remaining"
There's 59 seats where the Tories have a majority of less than 5%, be interesting to see if Labour join forces with the "Remain alliance" to form a "People's Vote Alliance"

It's all bent as arses. Any dirty tricks will be used by all sides. I am past caring, to be honest. Whoever gets in will be a bag of wank.

I'm liking the talk of a super canada+ trade deal, is Johnson trustworthy enough though ? ... i'm now in a position where i won't be able to vote for a BP candidate as they won't be on the ballot in my area, so might just have to hold my nose, vote tory and hope for the best.

I know the feeling.
I'm not one of those who every election blindly votes for whatever is wearing either a blue or red rosette.
I try to listen to it all, make a judgement on what I thinks best for myself and the country and place my vote.
However the total shit and lies from every side is thoroughly fooking depressing, it a sad state of affairs when my vote will end up going to whichever party I feel is the least shittest.

I thought we had already had the once in a lifetimes "Peoples Vote" back in 2016?
I was merely asking a question as to how the other parties may respond.
My position has always been clear. I voted remain, respect the decision, would prefer a soft Brexit but ultimately if the choice was between a hard Brexit and a Labour government, or no Brexit and a Tory government I'd take option A.
If it ends up being Brexit and a Tory government it is what it is, it will be an opportunity missed as far as I'm concerned to rid this country of some of the massive inequalities in our society but the people will have spoken.
As they always say we get the government we deserve.....

That has been pretty much ignored shame democracy is dead ! never mind I am sure it will resurrected should Labour win the December election

Totally see where you're coming from.
For me the country seems to have been on hold due to Brexit whilst other just as important issues being unresolved and on the back burner as MP's go around in circles with there Brexit conundrum.
This country is shit at the moment in many ways but at least we still have our democracy, hence me keen to seeing the decision made in 2016 upheld . Although the Lib Dems want to piss all over democracy and well I'm still clueless to what Labours muddled stance on it all means, seem keen to appeal to everyone while in reality are alienating a lot of there support.
My worst case scenario would be a remain party or more likely a coalition remain made up of Lab/Lib/SNP getting in. Holding another referendum at the arse end of 2020 and if remain win this time and we then get the leave side throwing the toys out the pram like a lot of remainers are currently doing, we could end up with a best of 3 sometime in 2021 or 2022.
The sooner Brexit is finally done the sooner we as a country can finally move on.

It’s expensive running a national election campaign. I wonder then if this is more tactical than strategic - meaning, they don’t have the cash.

The tories and The brexit Party join forces to become The British Union of Fascists
Seriously? or is it just a lame joke?
You do realise that Labour in 2017 had it in there manifesto to uphold the result of what was originally billed as the once in a lifetime vote on to be in or out of the EU. Does this mean the Labour party are fascists as well?
The millions of voters in Labours heartlands who voted to leave the EU, again are they all fascists?
When it suits, yes. Same as they are thick and idle when it comes to Brexit, but poor and hard done to when a General Election comes around.

As the saying goes, “ If you haven’t been a socialist by the time you are 20 years old, you don’t have a heart. If you are still a socialist by the time you are 30 years old, you don’t have a brain.”
So it seems that we have either some quite young posters on here, or some not so bright ones.
In the name of accuracy it was the serial liar and morally dubious Churchill who said that and he said Liberal not Socialist.
Carry on.....
The original phrase dates back to the 19th century. Many people, including Churchill and former Labour Chancellor Denis Healey, have used slight variations of it since.

Feels very much like sold down the river by mr brexit himself. We may aswell pack up and revoke a50
He delivered on Brexit via a "once in a life time democratic referendum" only the spineless authorities and the whinging bitches wouldn't accept democracy hence he has had to show his face again and kick the traitors in charge up the arse again, mission accomplished he has pretty much handed this to Boris on a plate and fcuked the Marxist back sliders up in one move.
Shows Lord Farage can be bought off !! and you cant trust him or Johnson !! as I've said before brexit is about money and the rich and mega rich not wanting to pay tax on their hidden money!!

All he really doing is withdrawing from conservative held seats which will only support the status quo . Johnson needs to pick up at least another 20 seats to have a working majority for the next 5 years . If we have another hung parliament it will be a disaster. Farage needs to step aside from the top 20 conservative target seats unless he's hoping for enough seats to support the conservatives.

Johnson and Farage certainly wont feel the brunt of any economic downturn post Brexit that is for certain but they're not 'the establishment' of course. No sireee!
