Well you have and that's what will happen. And you and the others fully deserve it. You really are an angry person and you really are not taking this well are you? Every thread it's "chav flag shaggers who deserve to suffer under the tories the most and I hope they do" & "Hope they bring back the poll tax as well" etc etc Why do you want the people of Stoke on Trent to suffer? Me regardless of who people voted for or what their beliefs are I really hope they prosper in Stoke on Trent! Yes I do want them to suffer for voting for these bastards who have already been in power for 9 years and now have the majority they need to end the NHS and workplace regulations among a host of other things.

Damning, Rog. The Sedgefield MP said the same, almost word for word. It wasn't just Brexit. He lost the 2017 GE against a very poor May. He got hammered in the subsequent local and European elections. His approval rate was through the floor. He was consistently 3rd behind Boris and Don't Know when people were asked who would make the best Prime Minister. His dubious historical ties to extremists and the current anti-semitism chaos would've been enough for any other Labour leader to be gone. The hard data was always there for all to see.

We should give them all runner up medals to placate their uncontrollable irrational anger.

You know what. I think you're right. I think the election has proved that the UK is more right wing than previously thought. I think they'll regret it in 5 years time. And I think Brexit was, in my opinion, not a price worth paying for another 5 years of the tories. That said, if that's what they want then fine. I'm happy to keep campaigning for my socialist views anyway. Although I must say, you should stop saying 'Marxism' when you don't have a clue about what Marx said, did, or believed, as we've proven in debates before. In five years time you’ll be five years older and five years further along your journey from being on the left to being more to the right. The bit of experience that you will be missing at that time will be of having lived under a leftish government for a few years. Once you’ve endured and seen the results of that, your journey will speed up a little bit. I know you think it won’t but there’s many others on this board who have been the same idealistic left-leaning young person that you are now and whose views, some more than others, have drifted right as they piled the years on. You know what, that may well happen. And I've seen people, family and friends saying things like 'well if poor people want to afford food they should get off their arses and get a job' and things like that. I hope I go the way my grandfather has and remain a socialist. And to be perfectly honest, for all the 'arrogance' quips levied at left wingers who are young, there is an incredible level of arrogance in saying 'oh you're only left wing because you're young, you don't really know anything'. When realistically I have moved further and further left with every year since I turned 16. I've gone to a GP asking for mental health assistance and been told to either 'wait 6 months or you can get it private for £50 an hour', a figure I could nowhere near afford at the time, and still can't now. I've seen kids in a school I taught at come in without food and steal bread from the dining hall to take home because parents can't afford enough food. I've seen friends on zero-hours contracts turned down when they ask for extra hours because they can't afford rent. I've seen a friend in the NHS work minimum 14 hours a day 7 days a week for a month straight, sleeping in the car once because she was needed the next day at 5am when her last 14 hour shift finished at midnight. I've heard of her nurse friends having to use a food bank because they don't have enough left over after bills, rent, and car costs. I've seen exactly how useless 'trickle-down economics is' and read up on the research and reasoning behind both right and left wing policies, and I've found that my politics is that of the left. So don't reduce me to my age, because I have given great consideration to why I believe what I believe. Whether you agree with my side or not, I am no yuppie student simply longing for unicorns, puppies and rainbows because it sounds nice.

Don’t mess with democracy is the single message that this picture sends. It should be made law that any MP that quits a party automatically triggers a by-election. Enjoy your political retirement guys, you really did make a big change to British politics. Karma!! What a shower that lot were. I do mean “were” as hopefully we will never hear from them again. Add Bliar, Major and Bercow and you’d have a full house of “we know what’s best for you, but don’t expect us to live in the way we tell you” types. I was really quite fearful of this election in that I thought too many people had bought the spin and bull shit of Corbyn and Momentum. Fortunately, I was wrong. So, to the Great British public....well done, you have restored my faith in this nation. Now...let’s push on and make it happen. Oh, and for those who don’t want to come on board, well please crack on and carry on shouting and screaming as your noise will die down soon enough....but, still know that even though you don’t want to play, you won’t be forgotten and will be rescued at any time of your choosing.

Corbyn may have been the final nail in the coffin but results like this have been on the cards for a long time Complacency and a refusal to listen to reasonable concerns of the electorate, Salop. They genuinely thought that those voters would come running back to them. I am proud that they didn't.

What strikes me as a common denominator is exactly what you say" we know best".... spoken with arrogance , self righteousness and confidence......it turns out that they simply spoke for themselves.... the type of people I believe that most working class people " despise" ( i hate that word) the most

He has done his bit he's fucked it ALL up 👍 He has done his bit. I’m sure he’ll be getting a word of thanks from Johnson at some point.
