Anyone who doesn't think Corbyn's Labour Party had a long-standing and highly damaging problem with anti-Semitism that he singularly failed to get to grips with is deluding themselves. Given that Corbyn is now yesterday's man, it seems entirely understandable for new leadership seeking to remove anti-Semitism from the party and to move the party in a new direction to put some distance between himself and the previous leader. That said, I've not read the report. But the headline findings, as reported, don't surprise me in the slightest. He’s not yesterday’s man though, this will rumble on in the party. And I’m certainly not suggesting there wasn’t a small and vocal minority of antisemites, but its good that you’ve taken the headlines verbatim without reading any of the findings......

Whereas the tories never appoint people to positions they aren’t qualified to do, would be inappropriate for them to do or down to nepotism? How’s Dido Harding doing? Or the openly racist PM? Dido Harding the one who is running test and trace on a voluntary basis you mean ? Yes. The Tory MP’s wife. The one who is way out of her depth and should not have the role at all. No idea what her pay is (or her expenses) but the one in charge of a £12bn budget and her time at Talktalk hasn’t well prepared her for this role.

Corbyn rightly suspended. When is Johnson starting the investigation into islamaphobia in the tory party that he promised during his leadership campaign? Johnson is a far bigger racist than Corbyn Perhaps he will. I'd say that making Sajid Javid the first British Asian to hold one of the Great Offices of State to be a good start. Except it wasn’t Johnson that appointed him.....

Well, whatever your thoughts on Jezza, he sticks to his guns which is refreshing in some ways to the chameleon and shape shifting normal politician types we see. Apart from Brexit... Was he the chap who wrote a pro EU article and an anti EU article, and of the two chose the anti EU article as it presented him with a better chance for power?

Apparently, giving a man a job to buy him off constitutes an investigation of the standard of the EHRC in voidy’s eyes?

Totally predictable. It's like an episode of the Truman Show is this...... Interesting that on the day a report which says that Labour is neither institutionally anti-Smitic nor that Corbyn is accused of anti-Semitism that the despicable Starmer uses this to reinforce a cleansing all of his own. This was never, ever, about concerns over ani-Semitism for most. You backed another loser for the many but not the Jew ! nasty racist party.

I've never justified that, another wrong accusation you're throwing about, there should be no starving children, especially when criminals get 3 meals a day. I just struggle to see the 1 in 3 poverty affected children.

However, he needs to be seen and shown as yesterday's man. And regarding the report, everyone else will do the same. It's great that you've pored over it in detail, but, as I've said loads of times on here, not many folk are that interested in politics. They will take the headline findings and the news will report them. I'd agree that the right has the bigger problem with race overall, you only have to look on here for confirmation of that, but right now, and for the last few years in Westminster, it is Labour's anti-Semitism that is creating the bigger headlines. What Starmer needs to do is put some distance between his Labour Party and that of Jeremy Corbyn, make the changes necessary to weed out any remains of anti-Semitism and create a Labour Party which can put that behind it. So far he's doing that. Makes perfect sense morally first and foremost and politically thereafter.

Clearly he saw the Remain vote moving to the Lib Dems and was advised to stop edging his bets. Hardly strong leadership. Yet he is PM Hey? I was talking about Corbyn originally being in favour of Brexit, then him edging his bets on it so as not to alienate either Labour Brexiteers or the student vote, and then suddenly backing Remain as election day loomed large when he realised potential votes were being lost to the Lib Dems (which is a significant reason for his heavy defeat). As for Johnson, he campaigned that he would see the outcome of the referendum followed through, hence his victory. Remainers often tell us that people can change their minds, well clearly BoJo was exercising that right!

Personally I don't think Corbyn is inherently and avidly anti semitic. He is Anti zionist with respect to Israel and the plight of the Palestinians. In my opinion He does sincerely want fairness and justice, being motivated by injustices But This whole affair illustrates something I've been saying for many years. Those politicians ( and their followers) have found a voice through Labour to draw attention to " issues" and " causes".....Sometimes this standing alongside the oppressed has resulted in Corbyn/ Labour becoming too closely identified with some organisations such as Hamas, the IRA etc...Naive at the least. But at worst they have lost focus on their core purpose...... to represent the working class in THIS country. Rightly or wrongly that working class does not share his enthusiasm for anti zionism....whether some people think that they should or not. So he has simply given ammunition to his opponents.....to be associated with the IRA for example, is a vote loser. It makes me think whether the modern day "left" actually want power, let alone seeming competent to exert it.
