Will he be allowed to get some of his Luton players nxt season ? I know he cant this season Even if he can, we don't know whether they are capable of pushing for promotion to the premier league in the next year or two. They may have shown it in the lower leagues but it's a big step up. We've been buying ex-Premier League players who've not looked capable of pushing us on, together with the ex-Premier League players who helped turn us into an ex-Premier League team. Even when we were doing well we should have been looking down the leagues to unearth a few gems. With any luck, our manager's knowledge of some of those players might just help us.

I think we will have already agreed to sign or have provisionally 'signed' the left back Justin. Obviously couldn't bring him in January but I think it's partially why Pieter's was allowed to leave.

I agree we shouldn’t focus on players with experience in the premier league, there may be a few in the lower leagues who can come in and improve us - but if that’s the strategy we are going to take then we need to be super patient, that 2-3 year plan to get back to the big boys league is going could start looking more like a 5-10 year plan if we fill our squad of league 1 / league 2 players. As with anything, we need balance between experience and young players who are hungry to succeed

You either pay them up, or alternatively pay them to stay away, much like Lambert did with Afellay. There’s no easy way out financially, but you can stop their disruption by excluding them. Some will sit it out, others, like Wimmer, I think will settle up because they want away. A good idea in theory, but how are you going to pay, at a conservative estimate, 10 players who are on high wages, long contracts, and are unsellable? You might have to fork out £100M or more, probably a lot more, to fully pay up their contracts. Then when, in theory, those players are gone, you will condemn Nathan Jones, or any other manager, to only bring in players who cost nothing and will play for peanuts, because even the Coates trunk will have been emptied in that process. As for excluding as much as 25-40% of the squad from training with the team and the manager. That might work for a day or two, maybe even a week, but when longer the PFA are sure to come knocking on our doors, and it may turn out to be even more expensive with excessive fines. Maybe, but the financial commitment has already been made, why not take the hit and pay them off if there are no takers.Alternative, is leave them hanging around. Problem is the message it gives to the rest of the squad. No easy answers I’m afraid 😟

What's there to get, the people that wanted the players have been sacked. Are they given a completely free choice, or options placed before them? Meaning it's either these players or nothing. Do anyone know for certain what our policy is? Jones has said the manger says what he wants, a pacy young lb for example and they go and find a few but the manager can also add his own to the list, he then takes a look at the ones he might be interested in and makes his choice. I don't see any problem with doing it like that as long as the manager is well informed on the players. I get the we have over spent, Wimmer for example, but if the manager wants them and its in budget I don't see how anyone should/could stop it.

Hopefully but with the reviews he’s getting at the moment there’s likely to be Premier League clubs sniffing around.

He looks absolutely deranged in that photo, which is marvellous.
I can't help but like him, remains to be seen whether he just talks a good shop or actually delivers but there's no denying he did so at Luton.
Despite the very poor start, I still believe he will bring it round given time. The season after next - we should be in a position to challenge for promotion. I know that seems a long way off but if we're to avoid another 23 years in the doldrums we have to be patient because the club has REALLY messed things up this past few years. It's this, or Sunderland, we as fans have to choose.

If we're only in a 'position to challenge the season after next' we're probably done for. By then the parachute payments will have run out and we'll be living off about £10m of season ticket sales and £6m of average Championship media rights. We'd surely have to cut our cloth along those lines, we'd be a Rotherham or a Wigan or a Reading unless the Bet365 boys are willing to just keep cranking up the debt but I can't see that going on for ever.

Our big advantage is obviously jones, the lad will know what NJ can do for him In easing the jump to the next level (familiar tactics, knowledge of the manager etc) and he’d be a starter no question, im not sure he’d get that in the premier league but who knows

This is either very reassuring or Jones is the Michelangelo of bullshit artists. However, with the exception of the Leeds match, I have not seen any improvement since the departure of Rowett. Mind you, there hasn’t been any improvement after the departure of each of the previous three managers either, which probably means the problems go deeper than just the manager.
