Absolutely Dave. What if the conversation with the board was as high level as "Do you want to bring in more players Nathan or do you want to work with what you have until the summer?" People are assuming that Tony and Carto have been jumping desks Rambo style clutching contracts for players ready to be brought in with the manager being waterboarded until he says yes. In reality it's just a load of pre season ticket sales bullshit. Indeed. I did prefix my opening comment with "there is a danger we read too much into everything at moment..." ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/KYqg3pYeaerc5lD_P7BR.gif) Toxic is involved now though so my working day will go a whole lot quicker ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/KYqg3pYeaerc5lD_P7BR.gif) I’m at Disneyland Dave, you won’t be hearing much from me ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/KYqg3pYeaerc5lD_P7BR.gif)

Sounds great, time will tell if he is as good as his word. Is it a good idea to put this kind of stuff into the public domain just yet though? It’s hardly motivational for the current crop between now and the end if the season is it? Why? He’s laying a challenge to the players, buy into what I want to achieve or I’ll move you on. The ball is in their court..... Why hasn't he already tried that approach? If he has, it hasn't worked. How do you know the club will allow him to move players on? Berahino and the other money grabbing wankers have already proved hard to get rid of and Rowett has added more to that list. If I'm honest, I don't think our last acquisitions look any better so forgive me for being negative but I think Jones has got fuck all chance of building a squad anywhere near good enough for the Premier League. Jones hasn't got the experience and the club is run by fucking morons.

This is just bullshit to try to boost Season Ticket sales which are going to be at all time low. Nobody says anything... they're wankers who are treating the supporters like shit for not doing say. Somebody says something - meaningful... still all bullshit just trying to push ST sales. Yet another situation where they can't do right for doing wrong.

My question would be, which obtainable players out there do you think Jones should be looking at? I assume he’s after your Huth / Walters / Delap type players.

I’m pretty sure he means he needs a squad good enough for promotion not for the Premier League. If we get their we’ll make the necessary additions then....

Was our 2007/08 squad good enough for the PL? We’re in the Championship. He needs to build a squad that can challenge at the top of that division. The Premier League bit comes later.

Millions have been pissed away and the club continues to haemorrhage money on total failures.
Yet Scholes and Cartwright retain their positions.
I just don't get it.

Apart from Faye our new signings were pretty gash and made little difference. I assume, like me, you're writing off the majority of expensive flops which we currently have which means that Jones has the problem of either having to get these shits to perform or gain a level of success by building from scratch. I don't think he's capable of either. Miles off.

Glad to see him saying the same as I said yesterday in the diamond thread. We are getting ready for next season and finding out which players fit whilst coaching them in the system.
His quote about money not being everything also echoes what I've said about our signings in the past having to be some kind of coup (look who Stoke have managed to sign, look at all the champions league players we have etc) rather than young upcoming hungry players with a point to prove and who fit in. I don't really care whether that was the fault of the manager or transfer team, just glad that Nathan Jones wants to go a different way.

When will the Coates decide that we've sacked loads of managers now, maybe it's time we look at our technical director and ceo. Maybe poor season ticket sales will start the process? Sadly I think it will take at least the sacking of NJ before the Coates wake up. Sad and frustrating times.

With seven months of work and a good summer there's no reason to think we can't challenge next season.

And even then it wasn’t until we signed Beattie and Etherington that we started looking like we had a chance to survive.

Why should the manager have to sign player he doesn’t want? Transfers like Imbula and other waste of spaces wouldn’t be here now if we followed that approach. Just let the manager signs who he wants in his squad. He shouldn't. That is my point. If the comment is aimed at transfers, is it a sign that hes been presented with playing options he has no interest in? We are in agreement here. Yeah I see what you mean. I thought you were arguing that it’s worrying that he’s turning down the transfers. He’s a likeable guy. He says all the right things. He’s got the passion and desire for the club. I so hope it works out for him.

What's there to get, the people that wanted the players have been sacked. Are they given a completely free choice, or options placed before them? Meaning it's either these players or nothing. Do anyone know for certain what our policy is?
