I don’t get the hype around this bloke at all. He’s an absolute calamity. But fair play to him. Which one?

Doesn't seem to be an option to buy, which makes it a bit more perplexing

Didn’t he have a howler the other week against Wolves in u23 game? He did and made loads last season too. He is young so has an excuse. But we have 2/3 better in the youth ranks than him.

Doesn't seem to be an option to buy, which makes it a bit more perplexing Pretty typical of us though. Not really, actually it's one of our better deals, we wanted Jack out, done, needed back up, got one, probably on a reduced wage in the sense the saints will be paying a big chunk of his wages and puts him in the shop window, works all round.

Be interesting to see the financials on this loan, if they ever come to light.
If we've paid big money, it seems pointless given the low fee we've allegedly got for Jack.

I agree with all that to be honest. I just think if there is no option to sign him permanent (assuming that's true), then I'd continue playing Davies.

Bursik and Blondy should be ready, so no need for Gunn next season.

Doesn't seem to be an option to buy, which makes it a bit more perplexing Because we truly are Championship also rans right now and we don’t have much choice.

If he does well, we could be faced with the double whammy of a Davies with nose-out-of-joint and a Gunn who is now of use to Southampton or of interest to a Premier League team. If he doesn't do well or doesn't play much, he won't sign anyway. Just wondering how we can win on this one

I completely agree, it's just you said we needed back-up Yes I know mate and that's the little bit that's a tad open for scrutiny, Davies has done nothing wrong and really doesn't deserve to be dropped but I can't see Gunn warming the bench for long. Back up was a bit fanciful, I see him in after 1 or 2 games and Davies being back to the same place as when he first arrived, right or wrong I don't know but that's what I think.

Wonder if the incoming Gunn could trigger some other interest in January, maybe dodged a bullet.
Over to you...

And if he does well he may well be out of reach in the summer! And Davies is demoralised. Think our best case scenario is Davies continues to play well and Gunn doesn't really get a look-in, we wave him off having had some competent cover on the bench for the season and Bursik comes in as No.2 next summer? Anything else is very messy!

I totally agree mate but this isn't like when we signed Grant who came in out of the cold and was excellent, this seems to me that Gunn has come in for game time, if not why move?

Good signing - we're back in the position of having two first choice keepers. It's Davies shirt still for me but Gunn is a top keeper at this level, very good shot stopper and hopefully they can push each other on.
