Confused by this, I think it’s from 2014: Blimey the Tories were at it back then, that doesn't make it any less disgusting though does it? It’s definitely disgusting - it was then, it still is now. I don’t think anyone is disputing that. It’s the context of the post - is it saying that’s what’s going to happen now/in the future as part of yesterday’s proposals? Or is it saying nothing has changed? Does it reflect badly on the Lib Dems given their role in the government at the time?

It's all unraveling now. The tax handouts for the reduction in tax to those companies who invest their profits in equipment etc applies only to those who invest a million quid. That means the hundreds of thousands of small businesses will be cancelled out of the scheme. Hunt said it was the help the SME's but he was lying. The only companies that will benefit will not be small businesses so he should have been honest and said it was for ME's. Lying duplicitous bastards.

So yesterday he lied when he said he didn't say it but now he's apologised for saying it and in doing so, has gone and lied a second time by claiming it wasn't what he said.
Seriously, just fuck the fuck off! 🤨

I can’t believe he hasn’t been sacked Assuming that the noise hasn’t been pumped in from somewhere else, that’s sodding disgusting. It’s really one thing for me or you to say it and another for a politician. It’s just one thing after another with this party. It’s really impressive. Trump did the same as well. Outrage after outrage until eventually, you just become numb to it.

I don’t understand how we’ve got to this point where they can just lie and lie and lie every time they get up and speak with no recourse. Sunak can’t string 3 sentences together without one of them being untrue.

The Tories are by and far the worst. They can’t answer a straight question (others can’t either) but they follow it up by parroting the party “lie” and if you say it enough times it becomes true.

It’s how these people operate. It’s starts with a misdemeanor here and there and then it gets worse and worse. By the end, you sit there thinking what the hell? I mean, imagine the uproar ten years ago if this was said. People would actually be pissed. Now, it’s just another thing. This thread is full of examples. They normalize corruption until people just forget to be mad about it anymore.

This is from 2013, www.buzzfeed.com/jimwaterson/british-politicians-jailed-since-the-last-general-electionThe list is quite eclectic. COVID and the carte blanche gifted to them has made them feel untouchable it seems.

The landscape has changed the test will be will the Labour government show more integrity - not hard to show more mind - no doubt there will be lying and scandals as with every government ever but will there some semblance of a return to pre Boris times (I think it's more than fair to point to his time as PM as the time the depths to which lying /refusing to accept any responsibility etc plumbed the greatest depths) where ministers caught doing and saying bad shit would actually resign at the first call? Or has it changed for the forseeable If it has, if the Labour government is just as bad when it comes to lack of integrity then democracy will be damaged dangerously

Election time will undoubtedly present golden opportunities for Tory MP’s to fill letter boxes with junk mail of them meaninglessly pointing at potholes.
Potholes that they had never seen before and don’t give a flying f*** about…
Maybe a new synonym will be created? Such MP’s will themselves be referred to as “Potholes”, as a PC alternative for “Complete a***holes”….

And I do hope it's confined to the Tory party, if it isn't and Labour continue in the same vein, then I guess we're pretty much fucked.

Like I said, if you read the motoring press it's not as simple as that. I did read the Article in full Ian, I should have acknowledged Do I think Brexit is the sole reason Honda closed Swindon with the loss of 10,000 Direct and Indirect Jobs, of course not. For whatever reason Honda don't see Europe as a target Market while it's going gangbusters in US However there is an interesting timeline 2015 Honda announce Swindon will be Global Hub to Manufacture Civic 2016 Brexit Vote Feb 2019 EU/Japan announce Trade Deal eliminating 10% Tariff over 10 Years May 2019 Honda announce closure of Swindon. I would have more concern what Nissan or Toyota might do in the future As part of EU/UK TCA rules of origin kick in in 2027 UK Car Manufacturers can't meet this as there is no or very little EV Battery. Tata may get up and running, I'm not holding my breath. I'm quite sure you have hear CEOs of Car Manufacturers jumping up and down for UK to renegotiate TCS.... and are looking for handouts. The EU/Japan Trade Deals removes the need for Japanese Car Manufacturers to be in Europe never mind a Country outside EU A decent update here regarding Nissan. www.pistonheads.com/news/general-pistonheads/nissan-confirms-3bn-investment-in-sunderland/47897They'll have repurposed part of the Infiniti line. I actually bought one as it was built in the UK, it was a great car. Essentially their take on the Mercedes GLA which it was based on the same platform as. Their marketing was atrocious though so they never caught on. Salesman in Stockport was ridiculously right wing, he thought mar lady was BNP because of a Fred Perry jacket she wore and proceeded to go full Carps! A truly bizarre experience, I hate buying cars at the best of times.
