Sir Knype, Chief Medical Officer of the Oatcake knows a lot more about covid than Vallance. Looks at the stats from the WHO from across Northern Europe for the same timeframe and miraculosuly they are all going in the same direction, the others didn't have any such scheme? Other than eat out to help out, did all of Northern Europe have the exact same covid policies? Did they also have the exact same levels of covid in the country before the scheme? Perhaps as well as the Chief Medical Officer for the Oatcake, you should be one of the Silks cross examining witnesses at the enquiry so you could show Vallance is wrong about eat out to help out…

Vallance and Whitty's comments in the Covid enquiry seem quite balanced to me - recognising mistakes were made whilst also acknowledging that locking down would (and did) have other longer term consequences with regards poverty, mental well being etc. It was always a case of weighing up pros and cons and basically deciding what an acceptable rate of deaths actually is (as macabre as it sounds) - we do the same for flu each year after all.
As for Eat out, to help out - I don't particularly have a problem with it. Sunak's brief is to look at financial matters and it was an attempt to help out a hospitality industry that was on its knees. A second wave of the virus was always inevitable in the autumn/winter minus a very draconian and extended lock down.

Clearly, Whitty has not been consulting with the real covid experts on the Oatcake Covid thread.

2% reduction in National Insurance, that’s pretty dammed big. 👍 Overall, UK tax burden is expected to continue at the highest percentage of GDP in many decades. www.statista.com/chart/amp/24330/uk-tax-burden-as-share-gdp-timeline/According to the summary I’ve just watched on Sky, the ratio is supposed to go up further despite this cut, largely because the Tory govt are incapable of growing an economy well at all.

2% reduction in National Insurance, that’s pretty dammed big. 👍 It was only 2 years ago they were telling us they needed to put it up 1.25% to pay for the Health and Social care changes. Amazing what they find down the back of the settee when there's a GE on the horizon.

thanks , yes i agree regarding my original comment , it is very unlikely that liebour have lost the terrorist vote . I'm surprised the lefties on here weren't happy about it .
It's a frightening prospect that Labour might need terrorist supporters to secure a majority , i wonder what the price will be to reflect that support ? Funny how hamas supporters can walk the streets of london and get the backing of the lefties on here on the grounds of free speech and yet they don't want me to exercise my right to criticise them .
You still fail to answer the original question, put to you by at least three people now. quote "Funny how hamas supporters can walk the streets of london"
these people or , if you're having difficulties , these people

Clearly going for a Spring election. The media are already going after Labour over their position on the Israel war despite being on the same page as the government who I haven't seen questioned once yet so you could be right.

2% reduction in National Insurance, that’s pretty dammed big. 👍 Until you factor in the fact that tax thresholds remain frozen leaving you no better off. Still - there are plenty who will look no further than the headline - which is what they're hoping.

The 2% reduction in national insurance is both a pre-election give away + a trap for Labour as it'll have to increase it to pay for improved public services which is what the public expect from a Labour government.

I think higher taxes for everyone are inevitable but nobody dares talk honestly about it. We have an ageing population and a reducing birth-rate - a double whammy that has no easy fix.

If I didn't know better I'd say it's by design, taking, taking, taking all the time, what's the point in going to work because they'll find one way or another to take it sodding off you. Slave population worked to death to Eat, shit and sleep

In a lot of areas not voting Labour helps the Tories.
Libs will be strong down south as they campaign you to death. A lot of pissed off tory voters will still vote tory to avoid Starmer.
Come GE Time I still expect tories to lose big but I dont think it will be as bad as the polls suggest.
