Braverman sacked! Thank goodness Not a moment too soon. Fair play to Sunak for not hiding behind a cabinet reshuffle, as many were predicting.

Quite right.. I'd go further and say that the rules of the referendum should have been such that an absolute majority of the entire electorate should have been required in order to force the whole Country into undertaking such a radically dissolute action, at all. I see alot of people on here arguing for and against Brexit on economic grounds but the cultural isolation and lack of free movement we now have as individuals within our nation is in my opinion culturally and individually stifling. Something which is hard to quantify in financial terms but definitely noticeable in cultural effects and it grates on the soul, as far as I'm concerned. I look forward to your similar post when that unprincipled charlatan starmer wins the next election and proves to be more Tory than the current wet wipe He’ll win but he won’t receive 50% plus one of the entire electorate Or does 50% plus one of the entire electorate only count when you don’t like the result Has any PM ever won 50% plus 1 of the entire electorate?

Cameron to be Foreign Secretary? Clearly we need someone to build bridges with the EU after the Brexit clusterfuck. Don't think I took much notice of politics back then but my gut feeling is that as Tory PMs go he wasn't too bad, certainly better than the clusterfucks that followed him. Obviously misjudging the Brexit issue was a huge error but made with decent intentions imo. He has to be better as Home Secretary than the last two idiots* *For full disclosure I did say Cruella couldn't be as bad as Psycho before she was appointed 🤦

They have now gone beyond the bottom of the barrel The last act of a dying regime. When you run out of competent people you have to bring back someone who hasn't been in politics for 7 years.

Has any PM ever won 50% plus 1 of the entire electorate? No Which is why the sudden wish for fifty plus one is irrelevant Though I do believe that leave received the highest ever number of votes ( I may be wrong) 67% voted to stay in the EEC in 1975 total votes for yes was about 30k less than the leave vote in 2016. ~17.4million 68% also voted for no change to the electoral system in 2011. ~13 million. So 50+1 isn't unprecedented but you are correct the highest turnout was 2016 for remain/leave, 17.4million again but with 16.1 million against.

The biggest example of a party before country merchant going. Caved into his right wing to kick off what is now Brexit, just to bring that up again.
