Your right about the number it's about 7% of the total. The principal is the same regarding equalisation Amazing that there are 600k kids in private education 😮 I'd send mine private if I could afford. In fact I'd home school them if I could afford and had the time. Anything has to be better than sending them to today's lefty indoctrination camps....I mean schools

After Rishi Sunak's speech last week most of the media attention has been on the scrapping of HS2. However, for me personally, one of the most interesting aspects was around education reform.
In short the Conservatives are proposing to:
- Scrap A-Levels and T-Levels by combining them into a combined 'Advanced British Standard' award. - Make Maths and English compulsory until the age of 18.
Now, I am all for education reform. Having worked in Primary and Secondary schools as well as in FE and HE in my career I can attest to the fact that the education system in this country just does not work. However, these proposals just do not feel genuine, realistic, or like they will tackle any of the most pertinent issues.
A few thoughts:
- T-Levels have only recently been introduced and many of them are only just starting. The government are basically scraping (well, re-shaping) something that they have only just begun to role out. - I am not entirely sure why A-Levels are in the govenrrment's sights. Currently students can take three A Level subjects and it seems like the government want to allow them to take five subjects. However, FE providers will struggle to find the staff or resources to accommodate this. There are more important parts of the systems that need urgent reform than A-Levels in my opinion. - In terms of making Maths and English compulsory until 18, there simply are not enough teachers in these subject areas. The number of newly qualified English teachers are down by a third this year. Again, I am not sure where providers will get the staff to deliver this.
All of this sounds like a shot in the dark and does very little to tackle the major issues which underpin our education system.
There is room here for other parties to propose something more appealing and productive.

Maternity leave certainly isn't a culturally left thing no. Its got nothing to do with mass immigration, transgenders, defining what a women is or taking the knee like a cuck. If anything it's pro family so more culturally right wing

Slightly off-topic. I understand that south of Bristol isn’t exactly the industrial or economic heartland of UK, but transport links to the south west are very poor. No motorway beyond Exeter, rail link ok to Exeter but beyond that the line is so slow that, on the fastest journey, it takes just over 1 hour to get from Exeter to Plymouth (40 miles) but 2 hours from London to Exeter(160 miles). The train journey from Plymouth to Penzance is even worse taking 2 hours to travel 65 miles. Apart from Newquay there are no air links past Exeter, the shortsighted decision to close Plymouth provincial airport 10 years ago has been a travesty for local businesses. My point is that funding for HS2 should have been used to improve transport links throughout the country not just to the north.

Many many £billions need spending on rail infrastructure accross the country this would take long term planning and political will As such expect a further deteriation over the next decades

You bring it up more regularly than anyone else on here and certainly more than left wing posters. Everyone else goes on about the nhs, cost of living crisis, underfunded public services etc. Why? Because the tory party are the cause of these major societal problems and they want to distract people with their culture war issues they are obsessed about. I guarantee the right wing press (particularly the Express and Daily Mail) go on about the culture war issues far more than the more left wing press (the Guardian, the Independent).

If a white Tory made the same comments in reverse they'd be calling her racist/ fascist/ -ism / -ist etc Starmer taking the knee like a cuck in front of a Marxist black power organisation. Lauding and promoting anything and everything that's minority related but never standing up for anything that's British or English related . Calling anyone that shows any pride in their country "little Englanders" and other such childish insults but when any other ethnicity shows pride in theirs that's perfectly fine. Starmer not being able to define what a women is in am attempt to confuse straight kids. Promoting LGBTQ+ at every opportunity. Instead of letting people live their lives and be gay if they want to or straight if they want to it's like they are promoting degenerate behaviour via a pro gay / pedophilic agenda. ( There are plenty of gays that are against the LGTBQ+ agenda and speak out about it. The great Douglas Murray being a prime example). I don't support LGBTQ+ but I support gay rights....isn't that enough? Why should I have to have a rainbow shoved in my face every time I step out of the front door. You can say we've had a tory government for how ever many years and its all happening on their watch and I'd agree . I despise tories as well.

I don't think anyone is saying they want to take what's yours without permission, unless you have specific examples of such and/or can point to where that is party policy. Completely agree about the principal of equality and justice and fairness. Even you must surely agree that ethnic minorities, homosexuals and all kinds of other minority groups have been excluded from those principles for decades, centuries probably. Presumably, you now think that things have gone too far in the effort to provide those people with the equality of treatment that they'd been denied previously. However, you'd be foolish to think so. As a straight, white, English male in 21st century Britain (extend that to the world, in reality) you have very little to fear about how you choose to live your life in complete freedom from prejudice, persecution and maltreatment. You might not think so, listening to the likes of Trump, Laurence Fox, or reading the Daily Mail or Express. But that's their entire agenda: to wind up people like you into feeling persecuted. The reality is that we straight, white English males continue to be very much in the group that has traditionally been favoured in all aspects of life in this country and most of the developed world.

How is your wife taking maternity leave the “left’s worst nightmare”? It’s a government forced intervention into business practice. If anything, isn’t that the “right’s worst nightmare”? She finished maternity leave almost 3 years ago mate. I didn't say maternity leave was the lefts worst nightmare, im not sure how you got that from what I said 👀. I think the image that I posted is self explanatory. Maternity leave certainly isn't a culturally left thing no. Its got nothing to do with mass immigration, transgenders, defining what a women is or taking the knee like a cuck. If anything it's pro family so more culturally right wing A pretty fundamental right wing concept is limited interference in social and business life. In that way, maternity leave is most certainly a left wing intervention. It was first introduced in the UK by David Lloyd George, a raging liberal, in 1911. It was attacked under Thatcher and re-strengthened by Blair’s Employment Relations Act, while paternity leave was brought in by Brown. I mention maternity leave from your post because you talked about it in a section that described you and your wife’s traditional life as the “left’s worse nightmare”. However, the experience and support you were afforded during the birth of your child was brought to you by lefty governments, including the Blair regime that you have stated that you despise. What has had more of an impact on your life? Someone taking a knee or social support structures like maternity leave?

No I disagree mate and it's that arrogance that gets people's backs up. For a poor deprived working class white lad from a rough council estate who is told he can't be proud of his ethnicity because that's racist ....but then he sees minorities being encouraged to celebrate theirs. For a poor deprived working class white lad that is told don't bother applying for the police or the RAF or certain other jobs because he's the wrong colour but then sees the 'quotas' encouraging minorities to apply for the same jobs. For a poor deprived working class white lad that sees initiatives and celebratory events for minorities but none for him and his kind, eventually that can and does, lead to resentment and in turn racism. People aren't born racist, an unfair society makes them so. I don't care about gay rights in other counties I'm fully aware that gays get chucked off buildings in Saudi Arabia but I don't live in Saudia Arabia so its nothing to do with me. In the UK today (im not talking about the 50s any more, them days are long gone), gays and minorities have the same (if not more) rights than everyone else and rightly so. So now they have the same rights and opportunities (if not more so) than everyone else, why do they have to keep pushing for more and more and more. Its not equality that they are seeking anymore , it's privileges and special treatment, and that poor deprived working class white lad from a council estate can see that, and he can see the injustice and unfairness of it all. How do you expect him to react. Minorities have race cards and all sorts of other things that they can pull to get them what they want, whereas the poor, deprived, working class white lad doesn't have such privileges. The irony of it all is most gays, and most minorities aren't anything like how I described. Most just want to crack on with their lives and think it's as pathetic as I do. It's organisations like Stonewall and the Labour Party that constantly push the agenda, thus creating more division in the process, which leads me to the conclusion they know exactly what they're doing and division is exactly what they want.

This is interesting but are blacks (for example) actually provided with more rights and opportunity than whites? Despite performing equally well at school (in blinded exams where ethnicity isnt really a factor) UK blacks earn 9.2% less, on average. Black women are 3.7x more likely to die in childbirth in the UK than white women. Similarly, black infants are more likely to be stillborn or have extended perinatal deaths. In 2022, 91.9% of police officers were white (versus 81.7% in the general population). 9.6% of regular reserves are non-white (any other ethnic minority). Only 3.5% of the RAF was self-identified as an ethnic minority in the RAF at that time. For both jobs you mention, there is an enrichment of whites. For the RAF, only about 18.5% of all officers are female. So, it looks like there is a lot of room for white males in these jobs.
